First off, thanks to all the amazing women in this community. I have learned so much about the disease and the amazing stories of courage and perseverance. Very inspiring. This is my first post, I apologize in advance if I ramble. It is my 84 year old father dealing with MBC and I am along for the ride. He has HER2 Positive HR- MBC. He is BRAC2 positive (as an aside, I am BRAC2 positive. Also a cancer survivor - had a bladder tumor removed when I was 27 - I'm now 57 ). He is youngest of 12 kids - 10 boys and he is the fifth boy to get MBC. Had found a lump a couple years back, had a mastectomy and told near 99% chance he was all clear. A year ago, had some vision symptoms and through testing found out he had MBC. Met near optic nerve and mets to bones, liver and lungs. Prescribed Faslodex and Ibrance. 3 months later scan much better, but ca27.29 continued to rise and Pleural Effusion did not improve. Waited 3 more months and just got PET scan results and confirmed treatment not working. Just started Lynparza and hopeful it will be effective. I am looking into COC protocol. Dad has been a trooper, always had a good diet and exercise habits and has been very willing to adjust diet and take supplements if shown benefit. Appreciate your feedback!

Experience with Lynparza?
Just want to say glad you have found this site. It is a wonderful source of information and support. I can't help much with the medication you are on but there are others who can. You really have your plate full in dealing with your own major illness and your Dad's as well. Go-od that he is so co-operative. Wishing you well on your voyage through Cancer.
Cheers, June S.
I'm sorry to hear what your dad is going through but Lynparza is meant to be good for that genomic type of cancer. I started on it just about 3 weeks ago and feel ok. Too soon yet for my bloodwork or scans but I actually feel better than I did on my break between the old meds and this medication.
Hi 13plus! We just got first month results from the Lynparza and so far so good. Ca 27.27 reduced and the volume of pleural effusion is down. Cough with Flem has resolved as well. Not sure it is all the medication as he did start taking fish oil about two months ago and started seeing improvements. Overall no major side effects to report. How are you doing with Lynparza?
That's great to hear he is doing so much better already! I'm doing very well myself thank you! We went away this past weekend and I hiked up and down hills for a total of 10 miles over the day without any issues. Over the July 4 weekend I was taking painkillers daily, feeling less than my usual self by far, my sacrum was achy and I had to sit with good back support. A huge difference!
I just noticed this in a twitter feed. I thought I'd share it with you. If the Lynparza doesn't work out for your dad and if he needs more options, there are always trials. This would be specific for BRAC mutations talaprotrials.com/FORCE
