Urinary Tract Infection help

Ladies, I seem to keep getting recurring urinary tract infections which I think is the result of the meds that I’m on. I currently am on Ibrance, Faslodex and Xgeva. They tell me it’s not unusual to get the urinary tract infections. But I’m just wondering if anybody has any suggestions of how you’re handling it and things that have helped? It’s discouraging. Thank you so much.

Try taking Cranactin. I used to get frequent UTIs also until I started Cranactin. Have only had 1 in the maybe 10 years I've been using it. I started out with 2 caps twice a day but now take only 2 a day. Be sure and get that name, not just some cranberry extract. There has been scientific research on its efficacy. I get the solaray brand on Amazon but you can get it other places, too. Good luck!

I got it but attributed to calcium and vit. D tabs. I took uva ursi but you shouldn't take too many times according to advice.

I bought pure cranberry which I dilute and have daily. Biona, from amazon. And I stopped the vitamin tabs! Have been fine since. Good luck.

Hello,

I've recently started Faslodex and just suffered an awful 3 week complicated uti for the first time in years. It is a common side effect unfortunately.

Lack of estrogen makes urine more acidic meaning it's easier for bacteria to grow. Antibiotics sadly destroy the good bacteria everywhere, including your bladder.

Cranberry along with grapefruit should be avoided with Faslodex so I would check with your oncologist before taking any of the suggestions.

I've read several posts on here warning about cranberry and drug interactions.

Trying to avoid very acidic food and drink, take a good probiotic and eating yoghurt/fermented foods.

Drink lots of water, a little bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water alkalizes urine. A cystitis relief sachet before bed helps with night time acidity.

Probiotic suppositories may be worth a try. Oregano supplements and thyme tea are very antibacterial and safe.

Really hope you find something that helps, I know how frustrating and painful they are.

I have been on ibrance for over 4 years and I have taken a probiotic the whole time. My oncologist has only said no grapefruit juice. The pharmacist also has said the probiotic is okay just no grapefruit.

I take a basic store brand probiotic daily. Have since diagnosis. Maybe your doctor feels it’s not for you because of where your mets are. Mine are in lungs. Maybe ask your pharmacist opinion, then present that to Dr.

Try pure d-mannose powder mixed in water. It’s for urinary tract health and the immune system. Best wishes!

Sorry to hear this, I hate UTIs! I hope others can give suggestions. Cranberry in small amounts helps.

I second use of d-mannose- the powder is best, dilute in water. I take a teaspoon every night as a preventative.

I too am experiencing UTI’s with the Ibrance/Faslodex combo. Had 2 in a month and a half. My Onc recommended the d-monnase others have mentioned. I bought the capsules. We’ll see how I do. Will try to find the powder if that works better. Talk to your Onc’s office and see if that would be recommended for you as well. Best....

It was the oncology pharmacist who said no 😪😪 it could be because I've an autoimmune disease as well ?? But they said it was the ibrance 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
