I started at 10 mg but had diarrhea, nausea and stomach cramps. Reduced to 7.5 mg and made it about 20 days fine until side effects returned. Now on 5 mg and hoping this will be correct dosage for me! Tumor markers decreasing, so happy about that! Main side effect is mouth sores, but if you swish the mouth wash prescribed, prevents up to 80% of mouth sores from happening! I have not had one mouth sore because I swish 4 times a day! You got this! 🙏🏻

Hello Helena,

I'm on my third cycle of Afinitor. I'm finding it quite different to Ibrance, but difficult to say exactly why. I feel less tired and stronger physically which has really changed my life. So I'm doing more physical exercise and feeling healthier. However my concentration isn't so good, I've noticed I'm not enjoying reading as much as I used to, I get tired after a few pages. I prefer audio books now!

I haven't had any problems with mouth sores. I get nose bleeds from time to time but they stop quickly.

I'm on 10mg and was very worried about the possible side effects, but things feel like they are going ok.

I'm also on Faslodex.

Hope it goes ok for you.

I have heard about people having wonderful experiences with Afinitor, but it was very hard on me. I lost my appetite and 25 pounds (My doc put me on Remeron and I’ve gained back all I want to!)AND it did a number on my lungs, which still are not normal (though to be honest it’s hard to tell what is the treatment and what is the cancer, sometimes) So I would definitely try it, but be aware of those potential pitfalls. I wish I had stopped taking it earlier...it was the hardest treatment I’ve ever had. BUT I’ve also heard people say the about Xeloda, and I’m doing really well on that...we’re all so different!

Been on 10 mg since November and wondering about decreasing amount. I’ve had the usual diarrhea and have lost some weight (food doesn’t taste as good), but the most annoying thing is I developed a cough on it. I thought it was my allergies, but I accidentally skipped a dose when I had a fever from the vaccine and lo and behold, no cough. Got back on the usual dosage and cough returned. My last scan did not show any infection in the lungs and I do have lung mets, but I will be telling my doctor about this. Previous to this, I was on Ibrance. I am shortly due my ct scan so I figure before making a decision, I want to see the results. I echo that we all react differently on these drugs, but I do find it helpful to see what everyone is experiencing. Best wishes to you all.
