Does MPE reduce with chemo and the prognosis

Hi. How are you all doing ? I am new to this group. Joined the group for my mom. Mom was diagnosed with stage IV with mets to lungs. She has got 4 pleural tappings so far. Her last was 650ml in a gap of one month. She is 72. She is on Ibrance and Palbociclib. We see visible reduction of her tumor in her breast but not her MPE. She is HER2 negative. I wanted to know if MPE reduces with this medication? I read on Google the prognosis for breast cancers with MPE is 6 to 12 months, is that true ? Thank you.

Dear Mercy,I do not know the answers to your questions my mets are to my liver I just wanted to welcome you to this group and give you some hope Ibrance and letrozole is a great drug combination I've been on it close to five years and still hanging in there it's no walk in the park but it is doable.

Someone who is knowledgable about the lungs and pleural effusions will no doubt answer you questions soon. So, welcome to the board. Sorry you have to be here but what an awesome human being you are to be here for your Mom she is very fortunate

Blessings,

Kate

Hi Kate,

Thank you for your reply and for welcoming me. I will wait for some else’s reply who knows more about this. Thank you for your kind words. My mom lives in India. I had plans to bring her to America to show her around before she was diagnosed. Asking God for healing and fulfill my wish to bring her to America. I told her never to give up and keep fighting. Mom is the quiet type but we believe she is stronger than we think she is. I have come to see and take care of her for a few days only as I wasn’t given more days from my employer. My sister is her caregiver I wish to see her again next year. Just trusting in the Lord that He will heal her. I pray for you and all the members to keep you safe. Thank you.

Dear Mercy,Your Mom is so fortunate to have you and your sister . It might benefit you to do a search up on the top right of the toolbar and enter the mets your mom has and or her treatment. You may find past posts that can help you. Kate

Hi SoCalLady,I have been on letrozole and Ibrance since my diagnosis of denovo stage four Er+ breast cancer with mets to liver. One of my tumors was over 11 cm. the strength of my Ibrance has gradually been reduced to 75 mg. because of neutropenia. But it is still working. It'll be five years in September. Kate
