Ibrance following SBRT radiation to two bone mets?

Hi everyone, my mom recently had SBRT radiation to two tumors (thoracic and lumbar spine) followed by a kyphoplast procedure last week as precautionary against future fractures to her lumbar spine from the radiation. She just started fulvestrant and her oncologist is recommending she do ibrance as well. We were hoping that with the radiation she would not need to do the ibrance, so I just wanted to hear if anyone else is in the same boat and what you chose. If you do take ibrance, how are the side effects? How long can one be on it? Thank you

Hi, Jac,When diagnosed with MBC in November 2017, I had 10 rounds of radiation to my spine; and started taking Letrozole and Ibrance immediately after. I went thirty three months before mild progression to iliac bones; and started second line of treatment: monthly injection of Faslodex. I have been on this protocol since August, so about six months. The Ibrance, particularly at the outset, left me feeling very fatigued at times throughout the day; it also caused some hair thinning, nothing drastic but nonetheless noticeable to me. After several months, the side effects seemed to lessen. I hope this provides you with some food for thought.

God bless you and your mom! Linda XXOO

Thank you so much Linda God bless you!

I also had SBRT to my left pelvis and started Faslodex & IBrance in May 2019. I was pleased that I had No Evidence of Disease (NED) Nov 2019. At that time I asked my Oncologist to reduce the IBrance from 125mg to 100mg to reduce the fatique & help increase my white blood cell counts. I have continued to be NED on PET/CT scans & have less side effects on the reduced dose. I’ve had some hair thinning but that has stopped. I hope that helps with your decision. All the best! ❤️🙏❤️

I'm not in the same boat with radiation but my understanding is the Fulvestrant along with the IBRANCE is much more effective I have been on both for almost a year. You can remain on it as long as it is working. That could be months or years from my understanding. My side effects were initially some nausea until I got used to the regimen and now I really do feel fine and have no effects but hair thinning. I send prayers for your sweet Mother and hope she too tolerates the treatment well.
