Hello, Did they perscribe a eye lubricant for you. Helena

I have not talked to anyone about my watery eyes yet because I haven’t seen any of my docs recently to discuss the issue. I will on my next visit to oncology or when the verzenio team calls about any side effects I’ve been experiencing, whichever comes first.

I will see my oncologist today and ask him about it. Thank You Helena

What is your "Verzenio team?" Is this team from Lilly?

Yes it is.

Is that helpful? How did you get it? Did your oncologist set it up? Sounds like a good idea!

I guess, yes! I have never asked to be honest. I called to get help with the cost of verzenio as I was told my insurance wouldn’t cover the cost and I was asked if I would be interested in voluntarily answering questions once a month for which I said of course. A very nice lady calls every three weeks and we discuss my treatment, any side effects, and any complaints I may have about verzenio. I have a 1-800 number of which I was told that if I have any questions or concerns that I may call any time of the day. She basically asks me for the lot number on my package and then asks if it would be okay for someone with verzenio to call me if they have more questions or concerns and I said of course I don’t mind. They’ve only called once in the 4 months where I was unable to talk to her at that specified time so she called back at a more convenient time for me.

can you call that 1-800 number and ask if they have any recommendations for runny eyes? They must know about this side effect.

I will mention it to verzenio when next they call, but all they will do is document my complaint and tell me to contact my oncologist for treatment. They will not recommend any treatment because they are not doctors. They are a pharmaceutical company. I am not experiencing severe watery eyes but if I was, I would contact my oncologist office to see what their recommendation would be for me. Instead I am waiting for my next appointment (I see my oncologist once per month). I think you should do the same as we are all on different med treatments and one med may interfere with other meds we are taking. Good luck! I hope you find relief soon.

Haven't found my oncologist to be helpful with side effects, or even to believe I have them. Okay, I will try the specialty pharmacist. I think it might be the same thing you are talking about. He is also with Lilly Cares, the program that gives me Verzenio free. He is interested in side effects and, as I said, was able to recommend something to check out with my oncologist, who said "good idea." Maybe they aren't docs and aren't supposed to go too far with this, but they do know medications.

Wow! It sounds like you need to find a new oncologist. The oncologist office here is overloaded. I think we are in the midst of a cancer cluster. However, so far they have been helpful. If that stops, I will seek out other oncologists. I am supposed to hear back from verzenio in the next couple weeks as she knows I have scans coming up next week and wants to know the results. I will tell her about the watery eyes and get back to you if she gives me any feedback on what meds I can use for the watery eyes. I also have an oncology appointment next week to get results of scans. I can’t promise I will ask her since lord if I get bad news, I won’t even remember my own name but I will definitely try to remember.

I have a scan tomorrow. I have a feeling Verzenio isn't working for me. I don't like it but I want it to work!! My tumor markers are going up. The oncologist says they bounce around and they aren't extremely high, just marginally. I disagree. I look at the trends. Every time they start skewing upwards, the PET indicates progression. So scary. But I learned by reading her notes that she is looking at a clinical trial for me! Good, but also scary. The only thing that isn't scary is when I feel great and scans are NED, which has happened twice in 3 years.

My thoughts and prayers for a NED scan tomorrow for you.

I also don’t feel like verzenio is working for me as the pain hasn’t lessened and for some reason, my head is very sensitive and I don’t understand why. They will not be scanning my head tho, just my chest and lower half. I pray so hard they find a cure in my lifetime to this dreaded disease. It would be nice if they would classify this disease as chronic versus terminal. Good luck tomorrow!

Iwouldlike2knowmore,

I have watery eyes, and sometimes a runny nose. I have been on 150 mg since 3/2021, and will be on it another eight months, at which time he said we were going to stop the Verzenio and just continue with the anastrozole.

Best,

Colleen

They will let you get off of verzenio? Are you metastatic?

USIrishcolleen profile image

Hello CatLady2022,

No, I am not. I THOUGHT that I was because they found cancer in one lymph node. (The other 17 that were removed along with my partial, we’re benign.) I joined the forum when “I” thought that I WAS metastatic. I learn SO MUCH on this site. I wish the best for everyone.

Awesome news for you and your family! I was just confused as I was told that even if they never see cancer on my scans, I will be on chemo for the rest or my life and my chemo is verzenio so when you said they were going to stop verzenio for you, I was confused and actually hopeful for me. 😂

I have that problem and contributed it to aging. Never thought about Verzenio. Have been on it for 4 months at 200mgs. per day. I haven't checked it for side effects. I tried all the over the counter products and none helped. My family doctor told me to try Thealoz. It is only available at the eye doctors. Haven't had time to try it yet but will.

Cheers, June S.

Hi! I've been on Verzenio going on four months now. Yes, my eyes got watery, which is super weird for me because I've suffered with severe dry eye for over 16 years and have been on Restasis for all those years. I was on Ibrance and never had watery eyes or runny nose issues at all, then the watery eyes, sometimes runny nose and post nasal drip started within three weeks of starting Verzenio. I never gave it any thought and now reading your post, it makes sense that it's probably the Verzenio. I will have to check with my eye doctor and my oncologist, although for me it's kind of a blessing because dry eye is really hard to deal with. I guess I'll chalk it up to a good side effect for me!

I hadthis eye problem with Ibrance also.

I am on Verzenio and Anastrozole since 4 months. My eyes tear constantly - tears dropping down my face all day long. My oncologist had no solution or experience with this side effect - suggested I take Claritin (which is the opposite of helpful). I saw an opthamologist last week and he has seen this dry eye issue with other Letrazole patients -- he says my corneas look very dry in their bottom third. He suggested discontinuing the Claritin and using ointment eye drops over night and gel eye drops during the day. Unfortunately, this also hasn't helped much. There may be prescription options to try also - just going one step at a time. Curious that it could be the Verzenio - but perhaps the issue as dry eye still requires the same kind of treatment solution.

Hmm I never suspected it could be letrizole. I will have to ask my oncologist about that. Thanks for the info!

Yes! I have been on Verzenio and Anastazole for 1.5 years and my eyes water all the time! I also have a runny nose a lot more than I ever did! I always have to have a kleenex with me. Why is this happening???
