My eyes fill with liquid tears I think but it seems it might be a little thicker than tears but it’s constant. I am on Verzenio Faslodex and Zo meta-has anybody had this I watering side effect to anything. I’m going to an eye specialist in two weeks I’m wondering if it’s my tear ducts that are clogged.Any help or advice would be wonderful thank you in advance. :)

Hi I have same problem. I am on IBRANCE , faslodex and xgeva. It Is dry eyes. I think IBRANCE causing it. It was real bad during winter and it is a little better now! I use lubricant eye drops every day. My whole body is dry and itchy. I hope you get a better result than me.

God bless, stay safe

Sima

I had that terribly when I was on taxotere. I thought my tear ducts were blocked also. They weren’t. The dr can stick a little needle in your tear duct to test. They prescribed the moisturizing drops for me but they didn’t seem to help much. I still have it to some degree but it’s not as bad now.

You can have stints put in your tear ducts if it’s really bad. Hope you get some relief soon.

Best wishes,

Stacy

Thanks but that all sounds yucky, lol I know I need something but I’m a chicken .

Oh, wow, interesting to read this thread! I've recently self-diagnosed an eye infection, with sharp pain in my eye, non-stop tearing, etc. I attributed it to sleeping in my contacts too often (because I'm too lazy to take them out at night) and so have kept them out and self-medicated with OTC eye drops plus white wine (taken orally... :) )! Never made any possible connection to treatment! Thanks for sharing! (Not sure I'll do anything differently, but I rarely think to attribute things to cancer/meds...so this is insightful).

I hope it clears up for you, as it has for me... :)

Best,

Lynn

Hi Barb

Sorry to hear you have such an unwelcome side effect.

I have it to. I had it continuously to start with, but it is much more manageable now. I don’t do anything for it, and it has calmed down a lot so I think my body has got used to the meds. Hope this is the case for you.

Hi!

I had that too when I first began Ibrance and Falsodex last year. Lasted for 2-3 months and very annoying. My ophthalmologist explained that one of the drugs (sorry, don't remember which now) tends to dry everything and when your eyes dry eye they make tears to moisturize. I used Systane Ultra eye drops which helped immensely. They're otc.

Will be anxious to hear what your doc says but think it may be the meds.

All best,

Kathleen

Had that last winter...thought it was a blocked tear duct, but no. Rubbing them gave me more colds. I was germing through my eyes. Will definitely try drops next time.

I've been on Ibrance, Faslodex and Xgeva for 6 months. My eyes water constantly, it's so annoying, I like to golf and every time I look down at the ball it's nothing but a blur. My last monthly blood work showed my neutrophils were too low so my MO had me take an extra week off the Ibrance and lowered my dose from 125mg to 100. I just finished my second week off and my watery eyes are gone, I really noticed it while golfing yesterday so it's definitely the Ibrance. Started back on it now, wonder if it'll be any better with the lower dose?

I'm on Ibrance and Faslodex shots. My eyes tear too. I use eyedrops which seem to help.

Contacts are a no no for chemo patients. It is difficult for me to not wear them, but I don't wear them often anymore. Look up chemo and contacts. Use lots of drops when you take them out at night and write yourself a note to take them out.

Best wishes, Blessings Hannah

Yes! I have the watery eye problem as well. I’ve been on Ibrance, Letrozole and Xgeva monthly injections for over three years now. I’ve seen eye doctor who said it was due to dry eyes. I’ve tried drops, ointment and stints put in eyes. Nothing seems to work. I have to constantly wipe my eyes with tissue. Makes it difficult to drive. I hate to complain too much about this as it seems a pretty minor side effect compared to what some experience. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one having this issue. Sending hugs and good wishes to everyone dealing with mbc.

Wish we had other things in common lol 😆 xx

I am on exactly the same drug cocktail (for just about one year) and my eyes started the tearing thing as well a few months ago. My eye doctor suggested eye drops and gave me a sample of Thera Tears. THEY WORK! But, you have to use them at least three times a day or they do not. I have a friend who developed the dry eyes while on chemo. She did the tear duct stints and so far they have not helped.

Good luck!

After about a year and a half on Verzenio and Faslodex, I have developed the watery, teary eyes too. Sometimes water just runs down my face! My eye doctor said it is a dry eye condition that the eyes try to compensate for with overproduction. He recommended lubricating eye drops like Systane or Theratears 2-3 time a day combined with gentle massage of the area just below the tear ducts twice a day. It has helped some, but I still have a tissue handy at all times, even when driving or wearing a mask when at the grocery store. I consider that if the drugs are working to reduce or rid me of cancer, I can put up with watery eyes!

Glad to see I am not the only one with this, so thanks for sharing!

Also how are you doing cancer wise if you don’t mind me asking , is the verzenio and FASLODEX working for you ? Prayers

There are so many ways to answer your question. After starting out taking two 150 mg Verzenio a day, my oncologist quickly moved me to any one a day since the side effects (diarrhea, loss of appetite, loss of sense of taste, dizziness) were overwhelming. I did very well on the one Verzenio a day for about a year; then I had progression of bone Mets including on spine. Now I am on a one a day/two a day rotation. Over the last 3 months the CA 15-3 scores have been moving up. My doctor sees these scores as key measures of what is happening, along with quarterly scans. Next scan is next month. I have had no trouble with Faslodex other than the pinch when you get the shots. My doctor says it’s the Faslodex responsible for the hair loss I am currently having. We have discussed changing to a new oral treatment TBD if needed, based on next months scan. So it’s bone Mets and some small lung nodules that are of most concern. My original small stage one BC in 2001 (Er+, Mastectomy, lymph nodes all clear) was followed by 5 yrs on Arimidex. I was shocked to get the MBC diagnosis in 2018, with development of a lump under right arm. So I guess I am relatively ok, I get tired and have lost weight. The recent hair loss/thinning is sad, I still have unpredictable diarrhea, but I am dealing with it. I’d like to stay on Verzenio, but we’ll see next month about that. Thanks for asking!

Praying for you . I found that the loose stools went away if I stay away from eggs of any kind no whites or yolks . Now I never have it . I take 100 mg twice a day . Xx

I don't know if your eye's are trying to compensate for dryness/irritation, but year's ago I had this problem . I have used Systane,'s and Visine's lubricant, drops. You also can use an over the counter eye ointment at night, but make sure you are going to sleep. You will be able to see, but your vision will be blurry. :) Years ago when I used it I had great relief for the rest of the day. When we no longer have our Estrogen, and Progesterone hormones, which keep us moist, and lubricated everything in our bodies dries up :( . Yessssss lady's (everything) dries up :( . Because my cancer was a Triple Negative diagnosis I can take natural HRT. :) You have to speak with your Dr. I don't need the eye ointment anymore, :)

but I occasionally do use the lubricant eye drops. Also use blue light blocking eye glasses when viewing your tablet/ computer screen, cellphone screen, gaming system's and even when watching T.V.
