Friday first scan since MBC treatment...

Hi everyone

Hope today is a good day. Well this Friday coming (28th) is my first scan, CT, since beginning treatment in may. Last Wednesday I had my 6th and final chemo so feeling pretty tired from that still. I'm feeling fairly calm about the scan at moment but I expect the anxiety will ramp up as it gets nearer. I think I'm just still in the shock of diagnosis that at this point I'm like 'it is what it is'.

So just to recap I was diagnosed april with mets to right lung, just over 2cm, what they called 'multiple' deposits to liver and a hotspot to 1 rib and left hip. Hoping for shrinkage and of course no progression anywhere else so that I can continue on the herceptin and perjeta infusions I also started in may. Please keep your fingers crossed for me🤞. X

Fingers crossed for you! I have a CT scheduled too, for the 31st. I'm in the same weird position of feeling unusually calm, just wanting to get it done and know where I'm at. (though I won't be surprised if some scanxiety hits me over the weekend!)

I'm all little further along the road than you, diagnosed Oct 2017 with bone and liver mets, have been on Letrozole, Ibrance (didn't work for me), Xeloda and IV Abraxane for 6 months. Hoping I can stay on that too....at least we know what to expect!

I think it's good that you are getting scans frequently. At one point I waited 6 months and I think that was too long. Going into scans, it also helps me know what the next options are, if I end up needing to switch.

For now, let's enjoy this week as much as we can. Please keep us posted....here's to shrinkage!

Hi Patty,

All the best for the 31st! I hope you get good results and that you can continue with your current treatment. Sticking with what we know is strangely comforting and reassuring, isn't it?

Take care,

Sophie

Hi Caroline,

I wish you all the best for your upcoming CT scan. Let's hope that the chemotherapy has been effective and that you will receive stable results. Hopefully there is some shrinkage too. Let us know how you get on.

Take care,

Sophie

Hello Caroline

I can well believe you are still in shock and trying to accept your diagnosis. For you to find out during the Covid lockdown must have added to your turmoil.

I have my fingers crossed for you and for good scan results.

Take care x

Good luck with your scans Caroline and Matty. I have mine on Sept 1st, which is also my first day back at work since UK lockdown in March (at a school)- talk about a double whammy! I am nervous as at my last scan in Feb they found new tiny lung nodules, although my onc seemed to think they might have “gone” by now (?) and I haven’t had any new symptoms, so fingers crossed.

I don't know if this is the case with her2neu + mbc, but with her2neu- hormone + mbc, three months of treatment is not always enough to show improvement on scans. Something to ask your onc about...... but either way, I hope the CT shows stability or improvement. I hope you don't get as nervous about the CT as you are anticipating. I've always known in advance when scans are going to show progression.....my body just seems to tell me when there is cancer activity going on again. Don't know if that is true for everybody. My dear first onc was old and wise and she told me that she pays the most attention to how we are feeling, with scans next and tumor markers a distant third. Good luck and please keep us posted!

Praying for good scans, fingers and toes crossed!

Good luck with the scans ladies. I’m sure you will get some good results from your first scan which then makes any negatives about your treatment much more manageable. It also puts your head in a better place knowing things are going in the right direction.
