Hi everyone, I’m new here and I’m starting on xeloda in the next couple of days for my bc liver mets. I’ve been reading the threads on how well most people do with this drug. It’s really helped with my anxiety over changing meds. My plan is 14 days on 7 days off. I’ve read here that lots of ladies are on 7 days on 7 days off. I’m going to ask if I can do that plan this morning, I’m hoping that it will be ok. Fingers crossed that xeloda works well and is not to unkind. The good news threads on this site fill us all with hope.

Welcome! Sorry for the delay in a reply. Yes, there is a lot of great Xeloda advice here, I too found it very reassuring before I started. Along with the schedule it seems that the dose oncologists started us on varied a lot. Let us know your dose and what your schedule ends up being. Also helps to follow all the good advice about slathering Udderly Smooth or other creams on your hands and feet, and trying to keep them cool.

I hope you find it an easy treatment and it kicks back your liver Mets!

Patty

Welcome to the group! You will find a lot of support here. I wish you well with your new treatments! ❤️🙏❤️

Thank you for replying, I’ve got the tablets and will start them Monday 2 weeks on 1 week off. My onc was not happy with 1 week on 1 week off. The dose is 2150 am pm/ . This is what I’m panicked about to be honest. But having spent all yesterday looking at doses of others it seems right for my height/weight and age. Apparently they like to go in high when you younger then reduce if you can’t cope. Still really anxious but most ladies cope and all have said hands/feet moisturise moisturise and more moisturiser. 😁. I was on E E for over 2 years with no SE so I’m hoping and praying this is kind to me and zaps the mets really hard. I’ve seen a number of ladies who’ve been on cap for years. That’s so reassuring. X

Hi there! Here's wishing you great success and limited side effects!

Were you referring everolimus and exemestane for EE? Two years is tremendous from what I read. Congratulations on that. Maybe that bodies well for xeloda.

Andi

Hi thank you for chatting to me. I’m hoping for the same results on this new drug I’ve been reading about the side effects hopefully it’ll be kind and not give to many problems. My onc says it’s very doable, let’s hope he’s right.

Other than the hands and feet issues I had no other side effects and it took those awhile to come on. I think my dosage was 2 weeks on and a week off.

I had 3 months of 14 days on and 7 Days off. I found it more than manageable. I had a slight decrease in dose for my last month because of sore Hands and feet. My dose was 2150 am and pm, it was reduced to 2000 am and pm.

I am 14 days on, 7 days off with Xeloda. It is important to drink lots of fluid, keep your hands/feet very mositurized. Keep in touch with your doc about any side affects that come up, so they can give advise on how to best help with it. Keep me posted on how you are doing, sending hugs.
