Just wanted to share the first Clematis bloom of the year, climbing up a big old Douglas Fir tree. May you each find a spot of beauty in your lives this weekend!

Wow. What a beautiful flower. Clematis are just such exquisite plants. You must be so far ahead of us here with your growing season. I am in British Columbia. My clematis has just started to put on greenery. So I won't see blossoms for quite some time. I do have some rhodos that are blooming and one of them is a fragrant rhodo. It is a rare thing to have a fragrant one. So I am enjoying it and so are the bees. Thank you for sharing your flower with us. Hugs and stay safe. Marlene

Hi Marlene! Yes, Portland is quite a bit ahead of BC. My friend from Qualicum Beach just sent me a photo of a Trillium...ours bloomed late March! Our yard is full of rhodies too, but I've never met a fragrant one, that must be lovely. We have lots of varieties and it's interesting to see the differences in their bloom season. The red ones are long gone but the lavender are in full bloom. Would love to visit BC again...we honeymooned in Victoria. :-)
