Eight years ago after being diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer, I came upon a writing workshop in my area called Writing Through Cancer. It spoke to me and I have since gotten to know several remarkable women through this experience. My mentor/facilitator no longer lives locally, but she does post a blog entry a few times a month. I realized as I read this today, that several of you may be interested as well. You don't have to be "a writer" to read and take in and perhaps even put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. So in the spirit of sharing, here's a link to her blog post that came today. If you like it, you can subscribe as well. I get nothing from this other than knowing I'm spreading some light.
Thanks for this resource. I worked as a freelance writer for several years when I lived in America and loved it! I still have some work published from time to time, but I haven’t actively written anything in a while. Now I just keep a diary. I have always loved expressing myself through the written word. I find it so therapeutic.
I clicked thru (it worked) and the site is just amazing! Some of the entries/stories brought a tear to my eye and I think the "program"/prompts will be very helpful (I subscribed).
I sometimes find myself mentally cycling. Every once in a while I have a breakthrough from just thinking about things (e.g.what do I really want right now?) but then I sort of forget/lose track of the things I should "stick a pin in" (meaning pin it to the wall to save it, vs.like pop a balloon!) and then I'm unmoored again until I cycle back trough to the same insight...
...anyway, I do think that writing from the prompts/guidance she gives can help solve that problem so that I get traction, make progress, etc...
Thanks so much for sharing!
The Other (or "another"? Are there more than two of us?) Lynn
Hey Lynn, Yes, there might be 3 of us! Glad you found it helpful. Sharon is a wonderful woman and has had her fair share of challenges as she willingly shares.
