This p.m. I asked my husband if he would like to go for a walk around the block as I felt slightly clostraphobic. Crazy really but I did. He was shocked but I looked at the empty streets I could see from our apartment and thought “I’ve got to do it”. I’m pleased I took in the air, saw the blossom on the trees, heard the birds twittering and saw the smile on my husbands face. I am fearful and adorn myself with hand sanitiser, plastic gloves, face mask, scarf and big full length coat. I will not be complacent about this and will only feel comfortable walking if I see the streets are empty. We take the lift down to the ground floor and I spray buttons and handles before even entering it. I spray the exit door when I go out and when I come back. I spray our coats on return as well. It was a difficult decision but life is short. Best wishes to you all x

It is important to get out of the house, taking every precaution. It helps clear my mind and calm me down. Glad you were able to go out and feel better.

I really do. It has lifted me completely:)

Hi Cheryl,

I'm glad getting out and about and getting some fresh air helped you. It can certainly make a difference. I have been getting out every day and going for walks, but keeping my distance and taking precautions.

I was so apprehensive Sophie. I realise now how important fresh air is to our well being. Glad you make it outside. Best wishes

So pleased for you...as long as you take sensible precautions you’ll be fine...I’m off for a walk in a bit...shamefully still in my dressing gown!!

You will get arrested ha ha x

We went for a drive yesterday and even though the sun was not shining at least we were out of the house. My husband and daughter walk our three dogs each day but I am in such a rut mentally and physically can’t go far (use a cane and have shortness of breath) but I need to force myself out. Nothing but rain and grey skies all week here and that is just dragging me down. I’m so glad you found the strength to go out ❤️

It will be great when Spring is in full swing and we can see some settled weather. It makes us all feel better. Glad you can take some excersise albeit very little.

I have shortness of breath, too. Hate, hate, hate it! Pulmonologist has helped me alot, with albuteral and Breo inhalers. I also sleep with a C-Pap, though not specifically for that. I avoid spray disinfectants as much as possible, any spray products really. I use a cane when I'm likely to be around alot of other people, not these days (LOL) as a don't bump into me signal, and also on uneven ground. Makes walking both easier and harder. Crazy living these days, that's for sure!

I'm so glad you got out to get some fresh air and enjoy a change of scenery!

It's drippy and dreary in Dallas today....as it was yesterday, and will be tomorrow...(ugh), but it's supposed to clear up next week and I'm thinking I'll take my daughter's old bike out for spin and maybe even have a float in the pool (will be 86 degrees farenheit (sp?)!). Like you, I'm so tired of being cooped up, need to air myself out!

in reply to

Wish I could ride a bike. We have proper cycleways along the river here. I just wouldn’t keep my balance. I would be a danger to everyone else even keeping my distance. Good luck with your rides

I will certainly try. I just love the outdoors and walking. Our planned holiday to Poland in May would have been all walking and our holiday to Italy in October would have been full of sight seeing. Both are cancelled now but there will be another time for both. I was surprised to see that a couple,of markets have opened again in Italy. How can that be safe when the figures are still rising?

Glad you felt better after getting out for some fresh air ! And you seem sensible taking lots of precautions in your residence . I am lucky to be able to get out in the countryside in a few minutes on my e- bike , so I don’t come across many people out and about . But I did tell my 21 year old daughter not to touch the stiles / fences in farmers fields locally ( where there are public walks ) on her fitness walks ! Take care enjoying the fresh air ! x

Same Sandra...I refuse to live in fear of the virus....being on a knife edge all the time with cancer I can’t worry about more stuff

I go out regularly just for little walks as it’s very hilly where I live and I’ve started to ride again so that’ll keep me from going crazy

I feel your anxiety and we all have it! I get out and walk and take a ride just to change the scenery! You need to do this to stay mentally strong! Nothing wrong with that! Stay strong and safe! God help us all!

As long as you wear mask and gloves and practice social distancing, it is okay to step out.
