CT this week--stable!

I've mentioned here before that my long time onc retired at the end of last year and while I like my new onc, she has been ordering alot more scans than I'm used to getting. CT last week was my third one this year. I've had mbc for over 15 years and there have been times that it's been over 3 years without any scans when I've felt fairly well and there has seemed to be no reason to scan. Each of these scans have shown mets to be stable. But I gotta laugh--they have all said that I appear constipated! My bowels are working as normally as ever! I generally have one bm a day, in the morning after breakfast. I sure haven't felt constipated and there is so much else to pay attention to......... I am currently on just third line hormonal treatment, exemestane plus Xgeva for my bones. I am going to be skipping a shot of Xgeva as I need a root canal. Fortunately, my dentist was able to get me right in Thursday morning when I woke up with a sore jaw and determined it was "just an infection" and not ONJ! It cracks me up that in MBC land, a root canal is good news and not a biggie! So I have an appt with an endodontist next week......

I’ll add my kudos. Your calm, thoughtful and wise posts are pillars of support and compassion here. I know what you mean about being relieved to need oral surgery, given the alternative! I was so relieved to have an esophageal stricture the other week with clean pathology report, I felt like celebrating. What a new normal Good luck with the root canal!

Thank you for your kind compliment! Being supportive of others is one of my family's highest values so I think it is "in my genes!" Dad was a social worker, mom a secretary who worked for private non-profits, one grandad on the school board, brother leads support group for diabetics, daughter a middle school teacher. Nobody is rich, except in great mojo and deep friendships! lol

If appearing constipated is the worst thing your docs can tell you after 15 years of being a MBC patient, you are in great shape! I know what you mean about a root canal being good news. I had the side of my face swell up and my oncologist was worried it was some kind of horrible infection. ENT diagnosed it as a blocked salivary glad that resolved with heat, massage, and lemon drops. That was wonderful compared to what I was worrying about! Good luck with your root canal!

15 years. That is amazing. You are our Yoda!!!!

Sorry if you are not a Star Wars fan

Wow..15 years. You are such an inspiration. I have had mets since 2 years and I need to teach myself to be more positive. Its the docs who keep saying we are running out of options which dampens the spirit.

Good luck with your new oncologist..praying for continued good news and a smooth procedure at the dentist. It’s almost two years MBC here and so far NED! Life goes on.😁

I just love your sense of humor. I came across a new comedian the other day that I had never hard of. I am including a link so you can have a listen and I found out she won the best female comedian award and all her jokes are clean and oh so funny.

Now, down to business ... Just off ibrance and my weight that has been steady for almost a year 1st went up 5 lbs. and now heading for 10 in a matter of a month ... what? I am an eternal optimist so I figured it's all that new bone growth from all the calcium I've been eating and BONE is heavier than FAT, right? lol Seriously, anyone experience sudden weight gain after stopping ibrance? Any side effects from STOPPING ibrance whatsoever? I must say my mood has gone from running over at the mouth hyper to somewhat somber and more lows with just the letrozole alone. Also, I just started the fenbendazole with vitamin E only, as I read you have to take that with it for it to work. I already take metformin and a statin for cholesterol. If you haven't heard of it, you can go to Joe Tippin's website and all the info is there as I really don't want to discuss it on here, I'm sure you understand. I only mention it to be open with my friends I've made on here and how/what I'm doing currently. Peace, love and healing prayed for all of us in Jesus name, amen!

Congrats, PJBinMI!! I'm new to this site and new to metastatic breast cancer (diagnosed at age 38 in May 2019 as metastatic de novo with bone-only mets, ER+/PR+/HER2-), but I have seen many of your posts as I find my way around this site. Your positive outlook is such an inspiration, especially since my onc is not very optimistic. I'm assuming you live in Michigan? I do too (Traverse City), so from one Michigan MBC sister to another, I wish you continued success with treatments! x -Krista
