I saw a pain specialist yesterday and she’s prescribed me some Butrans patches...they’re slow release morphine and last for seven days...she’s started me on the lowest dose to see if they help...if not there are stronger ones to try
Just put one on...it just looks like an Elastoplast...hope stays on when I swim and shower etc....I so hope this works ...the side effects are same as opiates but she did say less constipating and not as tough on stomach...although ibuprofen is the worst for that
Have any of you girls tried these?

Alcohol is ill advised with theses though ☹️so maybe just a glass of bubbly as I don’t want to make a spectacle of myself!!! Some decorum from mother of the bride I guess
If it rains it won’t matter too much as the whole thing is mainly indoors but some outdoor pics would be lovely
First patch takes up to three days to get the blood level to establish so we’ll see...I’ve just taken some paracetamol and ibuprofen this morning in case there’s a small effect...don’t want to feel weird
Hi Barb: I hope this is the answer you’ve been looking for. It would be great to not live in constant pain. I have no experience with the patches. Hoping to learn from your experience. All the best ❤️🙏🌈🌷
I’m really desperate for these to work...no change yet as still taking my usual but it does say it takes up to three days to become noticeable so I’m trying to be patient ☹️
She did also suggest a steroid injection into the epidural space to help with pain but I’m so sick of having things ‘done’ to me I said I would try patches first
I’ve had steroids before and they never helped in the past
I don’t know that one so I looked it up. It sounds like they do the same as my Fentanyl patch. Don’t be afraid, once you figure out what this dose does, to ask for an increased dose. My dose basically takes care of all pain if I’m not doing very much physical labor and I add a Dilaudid when I go out to garden or play with grands...or ride horses, if I wasn’t totally afraid of them! Elaine
Yes I thought they were similar to fentanyl and was expecting her to give me those...I’ve read mixed reviews but as you say I’ll have to get the dosage right...it says takes up to 3 days to make an effect so hoping tomorrow I might notice
Thanks for your advice as I don’t know anyone who’s tried them
I haven't heard of them. I saw my oncologist yesterday and he encouraged me to take the Norco he prescribed and then also prescribed some Lidocaine patches. I know the Norco helps but I am not big on taking pain killers but I do have to say I feel better today.
Where is your pain Barb and is it from cancer in the bone? I'm sorry I just can't remember.
My main pain is from fracture at T5.. also have low back pain which is fairly recent so that concerns me...I had a vertebraplasty on the fracture last October but never worked so that was very disappointing
Thanks Barb. And I understand when you say you’ve had enough. Constant pain is exhausting and can really do a number on your mental state. If the pain isn’t any better by my next monthly visit my oncologist is going to send me to a radiation oncologist.
I sure hope you find some relief. I don’t know if CBD oils would help or maybe just the cannabis. Not sure if it is legal in the UK.
A friend of mine had lidocaine patches when his horse fell in him out hunting and he had major fractures to his leg..they worked for him...he gave me some ages ago but I didn’t g
