I have been through 5 radiation treatments and have completed one week of Ibrance. Can I expect to feel any better?

New to Ibrance
Hi, Cathy - Wish I knew more about your situation...it may or may not compare to mine. I had 15 radiation treatment to give aide and support to my fractured sacrum and thin hip joint. (I am MBC to bones only at this point.) About a week after treatment ended I could tell a tremendous difference in my pain level. The Ibrance has some quirks, fatigue being one of them, but it is tolerable and if it's holding the line against cancer spread, I can learn to take more naps! Best of luck to you in your treatment. kc
After the first 2 months on Ibrance-which were very painful- I felt much better. Now after 6 months- I started in September- the only side effect is fatigue.
I will find out the results of my latest pet scan today.
It is poison killing poison.
Hang in there.
Hello and welcome, Cathy. I have no experience with radiation treatment, but just finished my 5th cycle of Ibrance and Faslodex with minimal side effects. You will get a lot of support from the wonderful ladies here. Hope Ibrance works for you as it does for some of us.
My symptoms began March 17, 2018. Spent from then until the end of May pretty incapacitated by compression disc fractures. I had 10 radiation treatments, then waited to start Ibrance on July 2. I was feeling much better by the time I started my Ibrance but didn’t get to my new normal until the end of October. By December I had clear bone scans. So, it all depends! I’m MBC to bones only like you, but it depends on how bad things got before you were diagnosed and what your side effects to Ibrance are. Mine are just the dreaded exhaustion so while I am back to normal, I know I will never have the energy I had before. I am also 71, but most people don’t think I’m that old, even now. I pace myself and do most everything I did before. Off to the zoo with 7 and 5 year old grandkids tomorrow but I’m taking the nanny too! Good luck. Hang in there, you will make it!
After my radiation it took my quite awhile to recover. Mine was to my hip and also my neck which gave me mouth and throat sores that took 6 weeks to recover from. The Ibrance makes me tired. Rest and take it easy. Your body needs to recover and to adapt to the new meds. Hopefully you will feel a bit more normal in a few weeks.
