My last round of failed meds from the trial, my hair was just coming out in sheets. Reminded me of Christmas tree tinsel the way it hung on brush. My hair is mid-back or just past the bottom of breast. So, I decided to order a Raquel Welch hair topper that clicks into hair. I’ll try to color match on weekend.
Separately, did my first ever chemo treatment GemCarbo combination. Just wrapped up an hour ago. Hoping for an uneventful week until next treatment.
Hope you guys are doing well. I welcome any tips on hair or chemotherapy.

Check out wigs.com and look at hairpieces. I read the reviews and lots praise the topper over wig.
Yes, for me, it’s important to look good. I don’t want to look sick. It’s just getting so thin. I was considering extensions but I think my thinning is mostly in crown area so this should work. Many say the topper is good for 4-6 months w daily use. Plus it will save me on touching up my roots every other month (grays). 🤗
Snowcone, you go fabulous for your next treatment! I think of you often and am sending thoughts of "stable" and "regression" your way. How about a new lipstick for your new do?
Hope this new treatment works for you with minimal side effects. I am on a Xeloda which is an oral chemo drug and fortunately it doesn't cause hair loss but good to know about the website in case I ever have to go that route.
A new “do” can do so much. Have done fun with it. I got a beautiful wig from cancercare.org and an ok one from American cancer society. Take advantage of what can be offered. Good luck with the treatments. 🤞
My hair has thinned so much in the last 6 months. I have been on Ibrance/Faslodex for 17 months, and doing well, except for the hair thinning. I am actually going to a salon tomorrow that specializes in cancer patients with wig and topper options. I am so emotional about the whole hair thing, but know I would feel better about myself if I could make my hair look fuller. Keep us posted on how you come out!
Can you tell me a little more about extensions? Are they permanently woven into your hair, or do they clip in? Do you just wash your hair with them in? How long do they last? I need to find out more about extensions as an alternative for me.
They’re bonded to your hair and can be removed at any time as hair grows
You wash and brush hair as normal but mustn’t use products with oils as this can soften the bonds and they come out..mine been in since October and a few have come out
I love all the different kinds products and support out there now! They even have wigs that have a darker shade near the roots that look so natural. I stumbled across a Utube video of a sister warrior who has awesome tips and tricks for wigs and toppers. Search Wigs by Patty’s Pearls. She has a ton of Utube videos and guess she has a shop somewhere... still looking for more information so I can contact her. She is so sweet and understands that the medical profession doesn’t offer any help for us in this department. I have a wig but it’s too big for my head. I’ve been on Ibrance and Letrozole and it has been rough on my hair... flimsily, dry, receding on top and sides... ugh...been using coloring and thickening sprays but so messy. I think of you often ...we are all in the same boat and I pray for us all. Stay strong! ❤️❤️❤️
You can adjust the tabs in the back of the wig to make smaller. I watch Patty on YouTube she has good tips. My wig was slipping around. She said she uses a roll on glue. You just roll around the edge of you head then put the wig on. It is really good. Stays in place all day. When you take it off it is a little sticky, but a rag with cold water takes it off the rim of wig and on your skin. Great stuff, no worries all day.
It is called itstay body glue. It gives such security. You can put it on the Bach of your head a little higher. It will hold the puffiness down in place.
Good luck with your treatments. I was doing Taxol, have some side effects like mild neuropathy on feet. Stopped chemo to give body a rest and let my ankle heal. She said she may try different chemo so maybe it will be the one you are on lost my hair after 6 treatments, but I have a few wigs and it's not bad because you know you look good everyday and no one seems to know they are wigs.
My tumor marker dropped over 400 points each after 4 weeks so I know it was working.
Hope your treatments go well and put you in remission.
