Does anybody get a lot of migraines with Ibrance and Letrozole ? I have been having a lot lately and my doctor says that is normal but I don’t see them as a side effect. Thanks.

I don’t, but then I’m not prone to headaches. Having said that I have a bit of one now😯. I wonder if a neurologist would have a different take on it.

Hi

I’ve always suffered from migraines since I was 9 yrs old..maybe hormonal as they were worse before my period

However post menopause they’re less frequent but I do have them occasionally

I’m on my third cycle of Ibrance/letrazole and I’ve not noticed any difference

As you pointed out there’s nothing in the side effects about migraine

I sympathise with you though they’re horrible..do you get the visual disturbance and nausea?.. we have enough to put up with without migraine as well..maybe it’s just the stress of the diagnosis rather than the meds?

Sorry not much help

I get a wicked aura/crackly vision for a half hour before the pain starts. I know what it is but it always gives me a panicky feeling. I am in two types of pain meds because of my bone Mets so the pain isn’t as bad as it could he. I got them younger also. I’m wondering if the Letrozole messes with hormones and causes them.

Hi , I have been suffering with migraines since day 1 , it use to last for couple of days and no regulars painkillers would help, it got so bad that I ended up in hospital twice . Now I take special painkillers for migraines and it works. I feel for you its horrible but there are painkillers out there , no need to suffer

I haven't had full blown migraines, but for sure bad headaches, I find I need two tylenol about twice a day, and don't like taking it that often. But at least that take s the pain away. I, too, was surprised to not find it listed as a common side effect of Ibrance and Letrozole.

I woke up every morning around 2 am. With severe migraines in the same spot on the back of my head. Hadn't had migraines like these in years. They started five days after beginning Letrizole. These are the exact same headaches I had when my doctor took me off Premarin with my first breast cancer diagnosis. For years my neurologist put me on a preventative med plus Imitrex to control them. So, I know they are hormone related. Two weeks ago my oncologist referred me to a neurologist and I was again prescribed a daily preventative plus Imitrex for pain. The migraines are now under control.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi

They’re definitely linked to hormones..mine are better with less oestrogen..were horrendous when I was young especially during pregnancy

I guess I’m lucky as they’re so debilitating and I’ve enough to cope with as it is

Best wishes

Hi Sarcie,

I have been dealing with what they call Optical or Retinal Migraines for the past 2 months or so. I am losing partial vision in my right eye just out of the blue for approximately 10 minutes at a time. No rhyme or reason to the timing? I went to the eye doctor who ran a bunch of tests to rule out optic nerve issues or pressure stuff and showed me some pics and yep, that is what I am seeing. He told me to go to my general practice doc so I did (just this week) and he put me on a daily migraine prevention medication without even so much as shining a light in my eye-grrrrrr

Fortunately I see my oncologist October 4th and am due then for all my full body scans. My biggest fear or concern is that the bone Mets in my skull have broken thru and gotten into my brain causing these optical migraines?

However, in my research I do see that hormone imbalance causes migraines so this would make total sense since the Faslodex and Aromasin both block hormone production on top of having no uterus or ovaries.

I pray for you that whatever they give you for the migraines work and that they don’t last the typical 3 days.

Sounds similar to mine. I also worry about the Mets in my skull doing something 😞. I think i will call my eye doc for a checkup. Thanks.

I got an ocular migraine on my first 2 days off Ibrance. Thankfully I didn’t get the pain. Hope they subside. xo
