Good results from my first scan since starting Ibrance two months ago. Nodules shrunk significantly and pleural effusion gone. I'm so grateful for that.
Now my oncologist/hematologist is putting me back on blood thinners. (Lovonox followed by Predaxa). Is any one of you on thinners?
Hello! Yes, I was placed on warfarin at time of my diagnosis of MBC (November 2017) when it was also discovered that I had DVT in one of my lower legs. Since I am now NED my oncologist has just ordered a new ultrasound of my leg to determine if any clotting remains. If not she wants to stop the warfarin. Good luck to you!! XO Linda in Seattle
Greetings :Sister/warrior C-O-N-G-R-T-U-L-L-AT-I-O-N-S on your great news. It brings so much more joy in my life to know that our sisters/warriors will also have hope/faith for the same results. You have an encouraging spirit that I am sure is helping so many on this site. God bless you.C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E.

I just saw my oncologist/hematologist yesterday and asked that question. The answer is...I will be on thinners (Pradaxa) for life.
That's curious. After that last post, I had an ultrasound; and there was still one small clot behind my left knee. Oncologist told me to stay on the warfarin for another few months and have my INR monitored monthly. The monthly reading has stayed in normal area for a few more months, so I am having another ultrasound on March 11. Oncologist wants to have the warfarin stopped then (hopefully) and told me, "You don't want to be on warfarin for the rest of your life." She was pretty certain that the clotting was originally caused by the cancer and said that, once the clots had disappeared and I was still NED, there was no reason to remain on warfarin. Your situation sounds very similar to mine; all mets to spine and one area of pelvis.
I wonder if your docs are being a bit more cautious due to the pulmonary embolism? I'd maybe get a second opinion. One less med to be taking! Good luck, Sandra!
