has anyone been on the reduced dose of xeloda for long term? i started on 3000 then went to 2500 - scans show cancer going away, tumor markers down, no more symptoms! yay. now my dr wants to go to 2000mgs - did anyone do that and get less efficacy, signs of progression? very curious!

What was the reason to lower the dose?

i'm pretty little and she thinks my hands/feet should clear up on the lower dose. she says no reduction in efficacy and the 3000 then 2500 was still high for me. (5 2" and 114 lbs...) i don't think she'd take any chances on me, but i am curious if anyone is on 2000. how are you? you ready for houston?

Yes, this Friday is my appointment, I'll probably fly out of Amarillo Thursday evening. I'll let you know how it goes....

I don’t have an answer to your question as I am just getting ready to start it. I am glad though that things seem better for you. I am concerned about the hand and fee side effect though. Did you experience that and if so how did you handle it. Anything else you can tell me about your experience with xeloda.

so far so good. i just finished my 6th cycle and got in a 90 minute hike yesterday and swimming and golfing... the hands and feet are annoying towards the end of the cycle. my toe big toes are infected and hurt, but not enough to stop me. i did just get a heel crack yesterday after my big hike... which kind of bummed me out. but it is manageable. lots of lotions! but my cancer has receded and my eye mass is going away...so if my hands and feet hurt a bit, oh well. cancer does really blow. but onward!!

Dumb question but are you working. Just hoping I can continue to as of course I need my insurance. So you hiked and golfed. The stuff I read about managing it says not to get your hands or feet hit and sweaty. I would like to continue working out but they make it sound like that is a no no. I really appreciate your response and input. Thanks.

not a dumb question - i do work, but i work for myself running a web site that custom prints home decor - so i don't get up and go to an office. i could though - very easily. there are really no side effects that i get - just my stiff body when i sleep - which my dr says is because i keep working out and running around like i think i am 30. and i have some cancer in my colon - which the xeloda is going after and i have total relief from diarrhea from that! so life is good. you should be fine - it is very tolerable and i definitely don't "take it easy" on my hands and feet. i cleaned my 4 bathrooms myself yesterday and mopped the floors... then hiked... so i'm probably not a good person to ask:) but i could easily go to work 5 days a week. i don't have any fatigue or anything like that...
