Hello. My name is Geri. I am a soon to be 64 year old female. I had breast cancer in 1997 and had a lumpectomy, radiation, and chemo. Seven out of 25 lymph nodes we're cancerous at that time. I was in a clinical study for tamoxifen at that time. For two years prior to MBC diagnosis I thought I had sciatica in my lower back. Doctor finally ordered a MRI and found innumerable tumors in my lower back, spine, shoulders and skull. I have done radiation and now taking Ibrance, Letrozole and a monthly Xgeva injection. Side effects of all are tolerable but still have moderate lower back discomfort. My hope is these drugs will continue to work for a long time and I can enjoy time with my family and friends. My question for the group is whether anyone else has had skin tightening in the area of radiation? My lower back has caved in and I feel pressure there. My right breast had shrunk a lot in size back in 97 as well. Happy I found this site. I love to hear stories of longevity in the fight against MBC!!

gerisplace Hi there. I had lumpectomy and radiation of my right breast back in 2000. I was very lucky as it was caught very early. At first my breast looked the same, but over time it shrunk and looks deformed. I lived with it for many years and then had breast augmentation a year and a half ago. Since my recontruction surgery I have had a great deal of pain in my right scapula. I wasn't told that that could be an issue. Sometimes I wish I would have just left it alone. I hope you continue to do well with your medications. God bless you.

Snaomi, thank you for your response. You made me realize that I have a much bigger battle to fight than skin shrinkage following radiation. For many years I wanted to get a breast reduction so they would match again. I can let that go now. I'm sorry you are still having pain following your surgery. I hope that subsides over time. Blessings, Geri
