Hi, I'm a breast cancer survivor and I had a double mastectomy. It is planned that I'm going to have the Diep flap procedure and I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how weight gain and loss affect the body after this procedure? Thanks

hi Kerryellen. I had a diet flap done on my left breast. It’s filled with fat from your stomach or wherever you decide. The new breast losses and gains weight as you do. It’s quite fantastic!! Make sure you message your breasts daily once healed. The scar tissue needs to be removed. Or you could have two bowling balls as breasts. Good luck. I’m happy I had the diet flap. 😘 Jane

Thank you Jane!! Appreciate the advice about massaging, would not have thought of that. What about your stomach and the rest of your body? Does the fat behave like before the surgery?

It’s like a tummy tuck. I haven’t gained any weight in my lower abdomen I also try not to gain weight.
