After five years on Aromatase inhibitors, I am very concerned about bone density. My doctor has suggested eating foods rich in calcium. I am avoiding cheese due to cholesterol concerns. Do you have any suggestions? I do not want to take calcium.

Healthy foods with Calcium
Hi,
I feel your struggle, I also have some cholesterol concerns so while I'd love to eat cheese all day everyday, I just can't. I try to stick to foods such as seeds, almonds, leafy greens like kale and spinach. Beans and lentils are also a good source of calcium, yogurt is as well.
I hope this helps.
Hi Did a google search and there are some enticing foods that are high in calcium. Unfortunately, many are dairy or nuts so that adds to your concerns about cholesterol. Not sure why you don't want to take calcium, but my doc said it was important to take calcium and vitamin D together because I wouldn't get enough just from foods. We chose using a prescription to be sure it was more healthy and less likely to have unwanted things in them and because my need was so high. Have you had a bone density scan and a blood measurement of calcium and vitamin D so that you know how much you need?
Thanks for replying. I have had a bone density test. I have osteoporosis and a 10% bone loss. I had a blood test but I have not gotten the results yet. If my kidney function is good, I will start on reclast infusions. I take a multiple vitamin that has some calcium in it. My doctor thought I could get enough Calcium through diet.
I use liquid vitaminD3K2 by Ortho molecular products. My bone density has been very good. I started when I found out I had cancer. I'll be on it for 2 years in October. I cant take calcium, I get kidney stones.
Thanks for the suggestion!
