Hi Faye, Sorry you are feeling so poorly. I would definitely check with my doctor about a medication. When I got chemo almost 4 years ago, he prescribed something called Emend--3 pills taken at the start of chemo, after it's done and the day after--it really helped with nausea. Also, I got benedryl and steroids in my chemo drip which also was supposed to help. And if I STILL felt nauseous, I had other pills to take. (I never had to take them.) There's no reason people on chemo should feel nauseous because there are lots of great drugs out there. I know Emend is expensive (about $1000 for 3 pills!) and one gentleman being infused with me who was on Medicare said his insurance refused to pay for Emend. So, my advice is to ask your doctor for something.

Homeopathically, many say that ginger tea helps settle their stomach and also charcoal capsules, but you should check with your doctor before you take anything in pill form.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hi Fay BklynCatwoman has made some good points There are several good anti-nausea pill that you Doctor can prescribe for you. You should take a pill before chemo and after to help eliminate any side effects. From experience I found drinking Ginger ale to be comforting Others have found that Ginger tea or lozenges worked for them. some pharmaceutical companies do offer financial assistance for medication so check it out without with them if your insurance doesn't cover the anti-nausea medication

I'm 64, and I had a bilateral mastectomy on the 19th of January.

Yes, on the Emend. They actually gave me this in my IV during Chemo. I felt great for three days afterwards. The also have me taking Clariti every morning Ask a lot of questions

In a more practical note I drink ginger ale and it helps a lot. Also, peppermint candies to help rid my mouth of the metal taste.

I carry a bag of uncrystallised ginger which really helps with the nausea. Make sure you stay hydrated by sipping water throughout the day and eat easily digestible food to help settle your digestion (not too much sugar or raw fruit and veg).

Hopefully the symptoms will settle soon - fingers crossed x

My Docs suggested Gatorade to stay hydrated plus I had anti nausea meds. I did have two days that no matter what I tossed my cookies. It felt like my sinuses draining and made me cough till I got sick. Hope you feel better.
