I had a heart attack 3 years ago and like most am on aspirin, losarton, statins and omeprazol
I am getting side effects which I am sure are down to the medication (as didn`t have these problems before) i.e
1) nightmares/vivid dreams most nights
2) maintaining erections
3) extreme tiredness mid/late afternoon
I have good/low blood pressure so and querying this with my doctor as Losarton lowers blood pressure so am not sure why I am still on it?-it could be why I am feeling so tired?
I have problems with statins before and the erection problem went away as soon I stopped them (some time before my heart attack)
Hi Rock_fan. I’m on a similar concoction of drugs 14 months post-HA. I had and still have a low HR, low blood pressure and cholesterol. I do have quite vivid dreams some nights but others I am so tired I do get some deep sleep. Afternoon / evening tiredness still but not as extreme as it once was. I am now usually in bed by 9 though as I can’t stay awake. I’ve been in losartan 50mg since Jan this year as an alternative to Ramapril. Recently noticed I get very light headed and dizzy and assume it’s because of these. I also now exercise regularly which may be a factor in reducing my natural BP. Seeing the GP next week to review. This widens the arteries so may have something to do with your other issue? I’m on 80mg atorvastain which have given me no associated side effects I’m aware of so far. Could be all linked I suppose but sounds BP related. Good luck. Chris.
many thanks Chris-I am going for a BP check on Monday to see if it’s feasible to come off the Losarton given that I have always had good/low BP
Then will see what we can do about the statins…. apparently it’s unusual to get erection problems with statins but as I said in my first post I had the same problem taking them before my HA and it went away as soon as I stopped so will have to see
Thank you for sharing your recent medical history with the Community. As with all prescribed medications, there maybe some expected side effects that accompany them. If the symptoms have become persistent over a prolonged period of time, or having a significant impact on your daily lifestyle, it is important to discuss these symptoms with your GP. They will have access to your medical notes and will be able to recommend an alternative medication or treatment option for you.
