Race Day is Getting Real! šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸŽ‰

The final details have landed—which means this is actually happening….gulp!

I will be starting in the Red Start, Wave 12. For context, there are 17 waves in total in each start (of which there are four), with around 850 runners in each wave. So yes, I am starting towards the back, which just means I will have a longer runway to soak up the atmosphere (and possibly get adopted by a group of cheerful runners - faster than me). I start in Woolwich, famous for its rich military and industrial history; which sounds amazing!

The good news? I have completed my longest training run—22 miles! (it was a painful experience!) So now I have officially entered the tapering phase, which is a nice way of saying "run less, eat more carbs."

The bad news? I have earned my first blister, so with a little TLC and some advanced sticking-plaster technology, I’m hoping we will part ways before race day.

Even though I have already reached my fundraising target (THANK YOU!), I would love to raise even more for the wonderful charity; Arrhythmia Alliance, that means a lot to me – of whom I support through both my research, and the work I lead locally. Every single pound helps, and I am so grateful for anything you can give to support the charity.
