How do you diagnose an arrhythmia?

Do you know the various ways of diagnosing an arrhythmia? Have you undergone tests or a simple pulse check, or are you currently waiting for a diagnosis?

An ECG, a pulse check, a Holter Monitor and an Insertable Cardiac Monitor are just some of the many ways that can diagnose an arrhythmia. It is completely natural to feel anxious if an arrhythmia has been detected, but undergoing the appropriate support and treatment can have a positive impact on your quality of life.

Our 'Diagnosing Arrhythmias' booklet offers a wealth of information about all you need to know: api.heartrhythmalliance.org...

Our dedicated Patient Services Team are here to provide support and advice via Patient Helpline +44 (0) 1789 867501 or via email, please visit: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

We are always here if you need us and hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

I would add the Kardia which I was told to get by the private EP I consulted after the lowest dose of Bisoprolol proved too much for me to take daily and my surgery didn’t come up with anything else!! Having also acquired a smart phone in order to use it, I sent him a reading of my heart in AF and he sent a prescription for Flecainide to my surgery for me to take as a PIP. I found the Kardia a great support during my PAF journey though now that I take Flecainide regularly I have been AF free for some time.

Hello,

Thank you for your response and for sharing your experience of using this device.

The AliveCor Kardia is another effective way of monitoring your heart rhythm with full details about this included in our 'Diagnosing Arrhythmias' booklet.

I am pleased to hear that you have found this device helpful. It is also positive to hear that you have been AF free for some time.

If you would ever like any support or advice, please do reach out to our dedicated Patient Services Team via Patient Helpline or via email, please visit: heartrhythmalliance.org/aa/...

I shall always be grateful to the AFA, as I found the private EP (who introduced me to having the smart phone, Kardia and Flecainide) through them.
