Hi everyone! I’m really hoping there may be someone my age (25 almost 26) who experienced cardiac arrest recently. I went into cardiac arrest on Sept 20th 2018 while I was at the hospital for an outpatient scan. The doctors didn’t detect my heart stopping until they got the report from the telemetry monitor I had on faxed it to them a few hours later. Now I’m (for the most part) grateful that I survived and that my heart started back up on its own, but the trauma that came along with it was way more than I anticipated. I did receive a pacemaker on Sept 24th. I had a complete halt to my heart beating for 24 seconds after a 3.5 second pause. It still is scary. I have lost some friendships due to the mental (PTSD) side of getting through what happened.

Hi, whilst not as young as you I had a cardiac arrest at 46, which I considered young 😂. I’ve been very fit & healthy all my life so was mega shock. I was cycling in middle of no where at time & had almost 25mins CPR. I too had PTSD followed by anxiety on and off for a while. It’s gets better. Ask your GP for local mental health support. There’s no silver bullet but just talking your feelings through with an impartial listener is great therapy. Above all give it time. I’m almost 3 years since & by n large it’s fine but I still got odd worry or grump because I shouldn’t cycle as hard as I used to. But hey I was practically dead so should be elated to be here . And must of time am. Take care
