Recent heart attack/cardiac arrest

3 weeks today, I was suddenly taken ill at home. Within 25 mins of having chest pain

I had a cardiac arrest. I am pleased to say that the paramedic had just arrived and he shocked me sereval times. Tests showed damage to heart, and they believed the small clot was dispersed with the shocks. No surgery needed!

I was in hospital 8 days now at home slowly recovering.... awaiting to start the cardiac

Exercise group mid November and also I have been referred to the counselling service.

I am remaining positive, but at times I am do feel quite anxious. I am 59 years of age, and before my heart attack I was a busy business woman.. think I may need to reconsider my role but hoping that I can make a good recovery.

I say that I am feeling anxious at times, but I am addmenent that this recent experience is not going to make me into a needy person. So therefore since I have returned home from hospital, my husband regularly leaves me at home by myself. When I was taken I’ll originally I was at home by myself, hence why it’s important to me that I try to lead an independent life. On the whole I am not feeling too bad, but feeling breathless at times is a concern but i do wonder is this panic!

I was breathless for quite a while after me heart attack. Once I started to build my fitness up it started to go. Your hearts had a shock so take it nice and slow you'll get there.

I agree with the previous poster, the meds will effect your breathing and make you breathless. I would suggest you make radical diet and lifestyle changes and thus enable you to get off the meds as quickly as possible. For example a whole food plant based med' diet outperforms Statins in trials.

Being breathless is quite common as u get stronger and your heart muscle becomes stronger you will notice it less and less . It took my husband up to 3 weeks to hold a conversation without getting breathless

Take care of yourself x

Panic could be a factor too. I found slow breathing, inhale to the count of 4, exhale to the count of 8, listening to relaxing music, meditating, pretend your are somewhere you really enjoy, light reading, doing simple games or puzzles helps calm things down and the breathing normally improves, if it is due to panic.

Sounds like you have been lucky. It all comes with time. I was convinced I was breathless for some months. Maybe I was, who knows.

The anxiety is normal, we faced our mortality & that’s a shock but it ebs away over time.

It’s early days be fair to yourself & rest up.

Ticagrelor cause breathlessness. It eases off. Rehab is a great facility and builds the confidence. I was back at work after 5 months and at about six months I felt hugely better. The recovery for me felt very slow and I just rested a lot and listened to my body. I have never been frightened or depressed as I just dont want to waste any of my precious life left on this earth being miserable. I am 61 and had my heart attack 11 months ago. Take it slow!
