🦵 Getting my life back

I have been on the Neupro patch for well over 10 years prescribed by a neurologist. I have been experiencing severe augmentation & resorted to my GP for help as I recently had brain surgery & am still recovering. She has been FANTASTIC. We stopped the Neupro by first cutting the 2mg patch into 6 then 1mg patch in 4 & came off it over 2 months. Pure hell but she prescribed Codeine to help me through this. I stopped altogether on Thursday the weekend has been absolutely horrible but last night I only took codeine at 6pm & midnight & managed to get through until 7am instead of walking all night as I did Thursday/Friday/Saturday Today I have felt almost normal.. my last dose of codeine was midnight. Starting to twinge now so will take codeine now & then whenever. However tonight I am starting on 75mg of Pregabalin & will see GP at regular intervals & up it by 25mg until I find the correct dose to control my symptoms. It’s tough but with an empathetic GP, will power & determination it can be done. 🎈 Hope this encourages someone else to give up the evil DA’s

Well done, Annie. 💪🏻👏

I hope the pregabalin soon works. Either on its own or in combination with the codeine. It will take a while though, before your body will have adjusted to the loss of the DAs and your RLS will be stabilised.

That's terrific! So pleased for you.

Remember it will take 3 weeks for the pregabalin to be fully effective.

Yes that’s what the GP said hence the codeine. Thanks Sue for all your original help! Much appreciated… and helpful in my day cushions with my GP these past years.

Well done Annieapple. Have you also had your blood work done? If not ask for a fasting iron panel. If you are taking oral iron you should not take it for at least 2 days prior to your blood test. Ferritin levels ideally should be over 100 mg/ml and trans sats20 to 45%
