DA withdrawals?

Hello,

What have people experienced when discontinuing their last dose of pramipexole?

I ask because it has been almost three weeks since I took my last dose of pramipexole, and I have managed relatively well with pregabalin (200mg at night) and codeine (2x30mg). These medications were in place for over a month before I stopped pramipexole.

However, I have had to use additional codeine to alleviate the pain around midnight, and then I wake up at 3 or 4 am needing more. Nonetheless, I was expecting far worse symptoms.

Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Congratulations on getting off pramipexole! You may need to add more pregabalin. Add 25 mg every couple of days until you get to a dose that alleviates your symptoms. It could also be withdrawal from codeine which needs to be taken every 4 to 6 hours.

That is brilliant news. Most people have a brutal withdrawal that lasts a month after the last dose.

The RLS-UK website sets out what to expect under 'useful resources'.

It seems you are one of the lucky few that escapes a terrible withdrawal.
