I’m just hearing about Ashwagandha and the claims that it helps with sleep as well as other issues.
Stress and anxiety: Ashwagandha is often promoted for its ability to relieve stress and anxiety
Sleep: Ashwagandha is sometimes promoted for its ability to help people sleep
Cognitive function: Ashwagandha is sometimes promoted for its ability to improve cognitive function.
This product is brand new to me. I’ve never heard of it before, nor know anyone that uses it or has used it. Does anyone have experience or know much about it? I’m just curious more than anything.

I tried it several years ago, during my search for an effective medicine and while the RLS was badly controlled. I still have half a bottle left. Didn’t do a thing. Although anything positive during that time I wanted to ascribe to ashwaganda (or whatever else I tried, always one at a time). Bit one always has better and worse moments or days
I suspect many of these suggested supplements and the like have a high placebo value.
Ashwagandha should not be taken by anyone on blood thinning medications as it could cause a bleed. Just mentioned in case anyone here is thinking of trying it.
That’s good to know! I take baby aspirin once a day, which I’d have no problem stopping if necessary. I guess I’m just more curious than anything, if anyone had either good or bad results. I’m having a rough patch and grasping at straws right now!
You are probably OK on one baby aspirin daily. If you were taking warfarin or any of the newer blood thinners it would be more of an issue. Anyhow I hope your rough patch becomes smooth again very soon. Good Wishes
I take it but I have only been on it for a few months. I believe it is something to take consistently along with a good healthy diet and making sure all vitamins and minerals are in line and none deficient. It certainly isn't a one bottle fixes all.
Ive cycled it for a long time, not specifically for sleep. As Sunshine indicates, its not a single fix and its just part of my protocol for another syndrome.
Mum doesn't include it in her nutrition protocol for RLS - yet!
I take it periodically in times of stress or when PMSing. I think it helps but it’s no miracle supplement. I haven’t taken it in a year or so but it hit my radar again when I was recently listening to a neuroscientist talk about stress management. His opinion was that it was a helpful sleep/calming aid. I haven’t heard of it being successful for RLS but sounds like there’s an argument to be made for insomnia or stress relief.
I took two capsules every night to break the cycle of stess causing insomnia causing stress etc. but now I only take one ocasionally if I have a problem. I heard that you shouldn't take it if you're sensitive to nightshades.
Initially I took it immediately before going to bed so not on a completely full stomach but not as empty as first thing in the morning. Now I only take it when I can't settle as it regulates cortisol levels. It's not recomended that you should take a full dose regularly
I used a supposedly very good high strength make for six months 3 yrs ago but like LotteM it didn’t do a thing!! My stepdaughter also used it but gave up after 3/4 months without any seeable/feel able results but of course we are all different.
