I have problems with my restless legs - mainly constant tingling and weakness in my legs - and am considering whether I should try GABA, as Levidopa/Carbidopa and the Neupro patch have hardly any effect. It's worse at times and I hardly get any sleep during these periods. Can GABA calm the leg muscles? DeepL Translate - Kaarina

As this is a UK site, most people only understand English. You are on Levodopa and the Neupro patch.
Unfortunately, Germany is years behind best treatment. Levodopa isn't prescribed anywhere else because it has the highest rate of drug-induced worsening (augmentation). Moving you to Neupro simply worsens the suffering.
Useful Resources in RLS-UK website sets out the withdrawal schedule.
Basically start reducing levodopa. Slowly- over at least 3 months. Then cut a 1mg Neupro patch into quarters and reduce by a ¼ every 2 weeks.
Ask your doctor for 30mg codeine, 50mg tramadol or 10mg oxycodone and take for 4 or 5 nights after each reduction of dopaminergic meds.
Withdrawal is brutal. But stick to it. You will never be free from RLS until you're completely off ALL dopaminergic meds.
You need to raise serum ferritin above 200ųg via iron pills/infusions.
And ensure you replace all trigger medications ( listed on RLS-UK website under Medications to avoid).
Start gabapentin or pregabalin around 4 weeks before the last dose of dopaminergic meds. The dosing and timing is on the RLS-UK website.
Welcome. I hope you’ll find some answers. However, your situation is even less straightforward than that of many others, as you write in your bio that you have Parkinsons Disease (PD). You do need the dopamine, as you don’t produce any anymore. We recently had another poster with PD and RLS. Worth searching for that post?
