RLS manifesting as headache/dizziness

Very depressing Indian study on RLS manifesting as headaches.

The only good thing about the research is that it establishes head aches and dizziness as part of RLS.

Due to be published in 2025.

All patients were treated with dopamine agonists! Even though some showed signs of anaemia & could have resolved symptoms with iron therapy.

We clearly have a long, long way to go in stopping dopamine agonists as first line treatment.

Hello Joolsg, there appears to be a word wide lack of fundamental understanding of RLS and the effects of Dopamine Agonists and a total disregard for the research that is already in the public domain. I’m sure that if they gathered the results of the current research and used it as a basis to build their own research on in a coalition it would save a great deal of wasted time and money. Are they all to proud to work together or just to stupid not realising that every time DAs are prescribed they set a potential time bomb ticking. ⏰ Perhaps I’m just niece (if that’s how it’s spelt )

The name "restless legs" needs to be phased out. Clearly any body part can be affected.

Yes, and it also sounds so wet and wappy, an insignificant affliction that is hardly worth a gp's time and effort. Grrrrrr!

I couldn’t agree more! People think it’s just a little restlessness and the person just had to move a little. I have heard so many people say, “oh I have restlessness in my legs” The truth is that they don’t have a clue as to what it really feels like! When I hear that I just respond, “no, that is not what it is like” grrrrr!

We all agree on this. Even doctors don't understand that fidgeting is NOT RLS.Maybe we can all decide on a new name. I'm not keen on Willis-Ekbom either.

I couldn't agree more, it suggests all you need to do is relax and your restless legs will be fine, if only!

I agree there should be a new more descriptive name for RLS. My legs have always jerked so it’s easy to say PLMD. Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. Though a bit of a mouthful. But much more difficult to describe RLS without the jerks. I know what it’s like because mine always starts with a couple of minutes of it. All I can come up with is ‘Need to move legs disorder’. Not very good eh? Come on let’s all try to find a good snappy one. Even if it’s only for us as it probably wouldn’t get changed by the medical profession.
