I think the NSAID is reducing your hepcidin, allowing more of the iron to be absorbed which then permits you to feel the RLS melt away. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
Yes! and it is such a wonderful calmness as you say. I never had it when my RLS was bad, real torture, but now I’m so much better I quite often notice the exact moment that it just melts away…..
I do hope everyone can get to experience it soon if not already 🤗
Physically yes. Mentally no. I've had too much trauma about RLS from such a young age that even in the absence of any sensations I am still hyper aware of what it can be and that breakthrough symptoms can happen at anytime. Kind of my personality type though. Even with decades of therapy to try and work against these thoughts, they are extremely hard wired in. Alas, neuroplasticity of the brain isn't the quick easy remedy many pop psychology articles make it out to be.
Yes, most definitely. I have had this experience on medication and without medication. It's like there's a calm and I know there won't be any more limb movements for the time being. It's as though i have developed an innate sense of when the limb movements have ended.
Yes! I'm not taking any meds at the moment but sometimes I get that same feeling of RLS just switching off...usually after many hours of suffering. I've often wondered what makes this happen so I can try and control it. I once experienced it on a long haul flight after 14hrs of torment when the cabin had been in darkness, within minutes of the lights being switched on I felt the RLS going. Made me wonder how much light/ darkness has to do with the condition?
I also wonder why RLS often comes on in the theatre , planes and other cramped/ restricted spaces? Friends keep telling me it must be psychological/ in my head but I know that this is common in RLS sufferers so there must be some physical cause. Research needs to be done on all these unknowns!
I started wearing a sleep mask a couple years ago. I can’t even take a nap without it. For the last year I have been wearing a sleep mask and earplugs. I can’t believe how much of a difference they make.
Jauny, if the lights came on as the plane was descending for landing then yes your RLS should have gone because air pressure rises as the plane descends - meaning it becomes more like what we’re used to.
