Hard to believe it has been 2 years since I found this site, the help has been absolutlely amazing. My Ferritin level was 11 2 years ago and latest lab work is 220, I have been taking oral iron for 2 years as well. It has slowly kept climbing. My RL are still almost completely gone, get a twinge every few weeks or so. I am still taking 600 Gabapentine a night, I talked with neurologist about dropping down slowly. She prescribed 100 mg pills so I can once or twice a week only take 500 mg. Not sure the reason but I haven't tried it yet. I do have neuropathy from Chemo a couple of years ago but not sure it is much help with it. I look at posts but don't comment to many unless I think I can help. Just know I am still lurking around. Thanks again for all y'all do

Just a quick update on Ferriti levels
Good news on the ferritin level, and hope that things go well for you. I guess that your doctor is also keeping an eye on your transferrin saturation?
Best wishes
Well done increasingyour ferritin.
Hmmm, I would suggest that you keep close tabs on your Ferritin levels - perhaps feather back on the supplements. Iron overload or hemochromatosis is usually a genetic condition, but secondary iron overload is possible with food and supplements. Discuss this with your doctor. Here's an article meant for practitioners, but very informative...

Thanks, will check it out.
Transferrin saturation level is the same thing as TSAT. See my reply to DicCarlson above. Since it took so long to rise and you were so low to begin with I would suggest checking it again in 3 months if you stop taking iron. If the doctor doesn't have your TSAT then he should have done a full panel iron test instead of just checking your ferritin. However I doubt your TSAT is too high.
Great news.
Wow! Your ferritin levels are great. Glad to hear you've had such great results. Some, like me, can't take oral iron for various reasons. It appears iron doesn't get past my blood/brain barrier and so I have iron infusions at the hospital occasionally, but I've never had a level as high as yours.
