My GP rang on Friday as promised to tell me all my blood tests were normal, so he didn't know why I was losing appetite & weight.I told him I had asked my Forum friends if they had lost weight on buprenorphine & the answer was "yes", with a few exceptions.
He thinks the buprenorphine is therefore the most likely culprit but quite understands that I do not want to come off it & go back to RLS.
We are just going to monitor the situation.
Thanks so much to all of you for your input. It was invaluable when talking to the doctor.

I’ve been on Buprenorphine sublinguals since March last year. My two side effects have been insomnia - tackled via a permutation regime of Zolpidem (cut in half), Methadone caps (purchased at health stores) and Zopiclone - and reduced appetite plus consequent weight loss (about which I’m delighted!)
Sorry - unforgivable slip so thanks for the query! MELATONIN CAPSULES was what I meant. Not suitable for all, but a sleep aid for me. Apologies to all again for the dodgy error.
Hey Simkin, I know what you mean. Because of the weight loss due to Buprenorphine, my clothes hang on me like on a scarecrow. On the other hand, it does keep the crows away.
It’s great to hear that your blood tests came back normal, although it can be frustrating not knowing the cause of your appetite and weight loss. It's reassuring that your GP is considering the possibility that buprenorphine could be affecting your appetite, especially since others in your forum have shared similar experiences.
Monitoring the situation seems like a sensible approach, and it’s understandable that you want to avoid returning to RLS. It’s wonderful that you found support from your forum friends; having that input can really help when discussing options with your doctor. If you have any further concerns or changes, don’t hesitate to reach out to your GP.
Thanks for that reply, Iaranoreh. My GP has now decided to send me for more tests as he is not totally convinced that low dose buprenorphine could cause a stone in weight loss.We will see.
