I am wondering if anyone has used natural supplements like amino acids to increase dopamine while tapering off Pramaprexole? I have wondered if it would help with the decrease in dopamine while tapering.
Also has anyone used Modafinil with any luck in helping energy and mood?

Hi, I'm new here. I was waiting to post about this until my "experiment" has gotten farther, and this might only partly answer your question, but I have cut my (6-year, augmentation showing) pramipexole dosage in half (without introducing any other meds) with some nutritional addressing of SIBO and two weeks of a carnivore diet. I was assuming it was the iron more than anything (my ferritin is routinely between 30 and 9, so I laugh/cry at the "over 100" recommendation here, as it's very difficult to get iron injections in the US) -- but it might well be the amino acids in the proteins. So you might try simply eating more meat, which is almost certainly going to be more bioavailable than a supplement.
I'll be back in a few weeks to provide more info on this nutritional experiment, but after early success I'm hoping to wean myself off meds altogether. (And thanks to this forum for alerting me to the dangers of DA, which, despite the Mayo advice, no "regular" docs in the US even seem to know about.)
I started taking a combined supplement with L-ornithine, L-arginine and L-lysine a few days ago and found it stopped my RLS. It was recommended on this site. Not sure as yet if all 3 amino acids are necessary. I think it may be the first two and will be buying them separately to find out very soon. Apparently, L-arginine releases dopamine from the brain. Also, haven't' yet established how long it's effective for or whether augmentation occurs (where the RLS gets worse after being on treatment for a while) as with the type of medication you're weaning off of. Pregabalin worked well for me for some time, if your GP will prescribe it.
