Does anyone know if a good neurologist who knows about RLS in the Madison Wi area? I’ve been dealing with RLS for over 20 years working with a great GP but he doesn’t know much about it . He doesn’t know who to recommend either.
thanks

Have a look at rls.org. It is worth becoming a member if you can afford it. They have a lot of knowledge and are very active in advocating for taking rls seriously and good care. They also have regional support groups.
Someone has recommended the following to the RLS Foundation:
rls.org/treatment/2016-hcp-... However they may or may not be fully up-to-date with current best practice: before confirming an appointment, it would be wise to ask whether they are familiar with - and follow the recommendations in - the Mayo Algorithm. If not, steer clear.
She is a sleep medicine specialist. The doctors have been submitted to this list by someone who used them and found them knowledgeable. They still might prescribe dopamine agonists which you don't want and/or they might not prescribe opioids if you need them. The reason is that the person that submitted the name might have been happy with a dopamine agonist and without an opioid. The best way to find out if they are knowledgeable and uptodate is to ask if they have read the Mayo Clinic Updated Algorithm on RLS as Chris suggested.
If you see her, let us know how you find her treatment and expertise.
