So I went to a new Movement Neurologist at Umass Medical Center in Worcester, Ma, where I saw a resident who went through all my symptoms and said, "yes you have rls" so I'm like, "no sh**" as if I didn't know. He said but it's not possible that the pills don't work for you (he's a resident) I said, "son" if you put everyone with this condition in your box you will not make a good doctor, if you let us outside the box you will be a great doctor. Listen to your patient, not everyone is the same, I have symptoms other people don't have but they may have a symptom I don't have. Not one person is the "A" typical. If doctors had rls they would understand the turmoil we rls sufferers go through. I think sometimes I'm going insane, I'm talking to my legs constantly telling them to please stop. It doesn't matter what I do or don't do I suffer from rls no matter what. Every day every year.

So- what did he say to that. And what was the outcome.?
You can't just leave us hanging like that!😢
he apologized to me and went to get the head doctor who came in and said we're gonna put you on the patch.
this young resident was very patronizing
Drs are a strange and interesting breed, seriously I do not believe they are the same as the rest of us, well not after their indoctrination into the 'health' field. The do not listen as a norm to their patients, even though there is a huge movement toward the patient being seen as the expert - we are but poor mislead fools reading old wives tales and speculation on the internet and since we have not had the proper initiation into the club our knowledge is flawed.
I have lost count of the number of really, REALLY sh1tty Drs that shouldn't be allowed to prescribe smarties and look after imaginary sheep let alone have the responsibility they have. We need to be more vocal and militant, not afraid to complain in writing, (that really freaks them out). Now saying that I do get where they come from, to a degree, and they do have a responsibility to protect us from ourselves especially as desperate people are likely to do desperate things!
Well done for educating the Dr, especially like the bit about how to make a good Dr - likely the best advice that man will ever get in his career.
That's my man , Raffs- give it to them in the mebs.
Sorry- I'm a bit giddy this morning- on train to Tallaght to give the vampires more of my life oppressing blood.👹
My sentiments entirely. If when I say to people I suffer with RLS with pain they say Oh. yes I`ve had that ??? NO they haven`t. At times it is intolerable, but I try to stay positive.
Amen to that! It is very hard to bite one's tongue in that situation, isn't it?
