GABAPENTIN AND STOMACH PROBLEMS

I've been taking Gabapentin 600mg at night for three months and have recently been experiencing diarrhea and nausea. Has anyone else had this side effect... it is so very debilitating.

How long have you been off Sertraline as these are symptoms that can occur from that.

Although they can be side effects of gabapentin, they usually occur soon after you start it not 3 months later. If you recently increased your dose that might be the case but I got the impression you haven't.

If nausea is a result of the gabapentin eating non-spicy food with it or right before it should stop or at least help.

The two together may be caused by food poisoning, a stomach bug, and stress and anxiety.

Thank you Sue, no, I have been taking 600mg consistently for my RLS and am now down to 25mg sertraline daily. I've had recurring upset stomach over the last 3 weeks and was wondering if it could be to do with the Gabapentin as it does state that it can cause it. I'll get checked out by the GP!

Sounds like it is a result of weaning down the sertraline. Perhaps go up a bit and come down slower. And that will tell you whether it is the sertraline,

Yes, I take 600mg at night which is a low dose but it seems to be controlling my RLS for now at least.

I experienced diarrhoea on gabapentin , but ot happened very quickly after I first took it in 2016. I changed to pregabalin and didn't experience the same side effect.

No I have had no stomach problems with gabapentin.

Hello,

I take 1200mg of Gabapentin per day, 600mg of which I take about 2 hours before bedtime and have not suffered any stomach issues.
