Hi everyone,I'm still having severe anxiety and panic attacks, still having horrible withdrawal symptoms from going off Pregabalin which never helped me in any way.anyway ,please don't judge me too harshly BUT I am taking a low dose of Pramipexole 🙏,it's the only thing that has given me relief from the hell I'm going through, got an appointment with the Movement Disorder clinic at my local hospital beginning of Oct.was also put on a different BP.tab,Irbesartan plus Lercanidipine,I also take Atorvastatin, I'm unsure if the combination of these accursed drugs thats really affecting my physical and mental health but I don't believe I've ever felt soo horrible before, the severe constipation is soo bad right now,I looked at the side effects of each of the medicines I'm on and they all cause constipation OMG.forgive the moan but I'm sure most of you fellow sufferers can empathise, ta for listening 😩

If you came off pregabalin very very slowly you would have had no withdrawal symptoms. How much were you on and what are your withdrawal symptoms? They may be from one of the other medications you are on.

As far as your blood pressure medicines I may have already told you this but Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker and they make RLS worse for most. The Irbesartan is should be OK. But why two blood pressure medicines?

I may have already told you this too - but Atorvastatin makes RLS worse for most. Nexlizet (Nustendi (UK) is a cholesterol lowering drug that is not a statin, but I don’t know if it exacerbates RLS symptoms. Ezetimibe (Zetia) - reduces cholesterol although It doesn't reduce cholesterol as fast as the statins, but according to Chris Columbus it didn't trigger his RLS and then there is Triglide which seems safe. You might want to discuss these with your doctor. A more difficult way to reduce cholesterol is to go vegan. My husband lowered his cholesterol from 221 to 131 this way.

Thankyou Sue for replying promptly, I'm sure you have mentioned all these things previously, I'm all over the place at this time.I was taking two 75mgs of Pregabalin for a long time ,never found it helped me ,discussed this with my gp ,she agreed to help me wean off by giving me 25mg tabs,I do believe I stopped too quickly, at the same time my BP medication was changed ,I did enquire why two BP tabs, she said they work in different ways,my BP is never down to a safe reading so I'm assuming that's the reason for two tabs.i feel anxious, panicky, dread, shaking legs, weeping uncontrollably although that's getting easier,I have tinitus, dread the night coming because it's unbearable. I'm not a great meat eater so I feel I could try a Vegan diet,I will show this to my gp re.my medication.

Are you taking anything for insomnia. As you know I have pulsatile tinnitus too which prevents me from sleeping and I have changed to lunesta which works beautifully.

For anxiety buspar is safe and may actually help RLS symptoms.

Sue,I take half of a zimovane tab.which let's me sleep for 4 or 5 hours,Heaven for me.ive been on Buspirone for maybe 6 weeks,do you think that Lunesta helps with easing Tinnitus because I have it all blooming day and night?

SueJohnson profile image
SueJohnson in reply toWhymelord

No- it just helps you sleep. It has a longer half life than zimovane so might let you sleep longer. It's a shame buspirone isn't working for you.

Sorry you’re having so very rough a time. But Sue’s right, of course: withdrawal from Pregabalin (and Gabapentin) must be handled very carefully. Your doctor should have the process strategised, in respect both of dosage and time.

As to blood pressure meds, I’m on Losartan, Felodipine and Indapamide, none of which were in conflict with my one-time Pregabalin and all of which sit easily with my current medication Buprenorphine.

All the very best.

Thankyou dickJones,I really do appreciate everyone's help and support.I am aware that I probably stopped Pregabalin too soon,I'm hoping that it's nearly out of my system very soon.I also think that the new BP tab.Irbesartan does not agree with me because, from the time I changed over to it I have not felt well,so would like to hear from anyone who might feel the same. The Tinitus seems to have gotten much worse this going on it.Im clutching at straws I think, trying to get to the bottom of why and when I began to feel like this.thankyou again.

You are lucky that felodipine, a calcium channel blocker, and indapamide, a diuretic don't make your RLS worse as they do so for most people, but then we all react differently to medicines.

I don’t have RLS, Sue, just PLMD. I’ve just abandoned the Indapamide because it made my ankles swell. The PLMD is currently in abeyance, thanks to 0.6 mg of Buprenorphine. When it returns I might review both BP meds.

I'm so sorry you are suffering .Sue has given you good advice. I think the drugs you are taking could be causing your problems. As an example,I have taken felodipine for years for high blood pressure with no adverse effects. Recently, the brand of felodipine was changed. My RLS symptoms sent me through the roof.I worked out it was the BP drug. I got hold of my original brand and my RLS has settled again. Huge good luck. I hope you get relief soon.

Thankyou Jumpey, for some reason my BP never goes to a safe level so when I go to the doc.to have it checked they give me a different tab.Im 78 years old, feel that I keep myself pretty fit,go walking, do so babysitting, socialise with my friends, eat healthy and well.I don't think I have ever felt soo horrible in my life as I do at this time,my energy is not good,I'm determined to get myself sorted and feel good again so with the advice and information on this forum and of course self help ,ie.getting my meds sorted,I'll be ok🙏

I'm jumping in late to this but have you tried taking magnesium toward bed time? It won't get rid of the RLS but it will calm your central nervous system down. You can also try taking glycine at the same time. Like gaba it suppresses CNS activity (it has a calming effect).

Another thing to try is taking a very hot bath, with your shoulders, hands everything up to the head/neck under the water for as long as you can manage. You'll feel uncomfortable, you'll sweat a lot. But try it for at least 10mins and do it 3+ hours before bed time. You want to be completely cool, no more sweating from this before you go to bed. It can induce sleep but also can help deeper sleep to occur. You could even put some magnesium salts in the water with you.

Neither of these things will get rid of the RLS but they can help you mitigate the withdrawal symptoms you're experiencing.

Sorry I can't be of much help.

Hi HappyGreenBean, thankyou for this,I do take Magnesium bisglycinate but must confess I haven't taken it in a while.Every bit of advice and help are greatly appreciated.is glycine similar to Magnesium bisglycinate,?because of my anxiety and not sleeping I took Pramipexole which helped me instantly, while I do not intend to stay on them I will until I feel like" NORMAL" again,it's different strokes for different folks especially as far as RLS is concerned

Glycine isn't similar to Magnesium and yet it is. What I mean by that is it'll help calm your system down, but it works on a different pathway.

I understand entirely the need to find ways through this, it's truly awful when it kicks off big time. Pun intended! Pace yourself, tomorrow may be different than today or Wednesday. You'll find a way through this.

Hi there friend and sorry for your struggles, when I initially stopped Pramipexole cold turkey this stuff helped me immensely, I use doctors best version with another added item that escapes me atm.

As a natural anxiolytic, L-theanine has been studied for its role in reducing symptoms of anxiety and stress.

In a randomized controlled trial published in the journal Nutrients, adults who took 200mg of L-theanine for four weeks exhibited significantly improved scores on subjective measures of anxiety and stress.

Many mechanisms are at the root of these benefits, including L-theanine’s ability to promote calm brain waves, regulate neurotransmitters and neuron growth, and lower blood pressure.
