Sounds like a nerve problem. I would see a neurologist.
You may have a pinched nerve. But it may also be the new medication side effect ?
I had it VERY violently while on Ropinirole and during withdrawal. It completely disappeared once off dopamine agonists.
dear joolsg now you are off dopamine what happens with your restless legs what do you take have your RLs gone xx
My RLS is completely controlled 24/7 with 0.2mg Buprenorphine at 9.30 and 0.2mg Buprenorphine at midnight. My IRLSS went from 36/40 when taking pregabalin and Oxycontin to 0/40.Obviously I'll be on meds for life, but I now get 8 or 9 hour's sleep every night.
Im going to start doing that, cut the targin out as it is not working anyway...and party that it works for me like that. I'm on my own as from today as pain specialist doesn't give a shit and ignored my pkeas for something to help
Could be sciatica?
Hello Kathandkell, I get the electric sensations, kicking and jerking, etc particularly in my left leg and I think it’s all part of my rls and periodic limb movement disorder - but it’s definitely worse when I’ve stopped or changed a medication.
Looking back at your past posts I note that you have been on a range of medications and that you have recently been refused Temgesic - I think your body is in withdrawal and needs to settle down. I have found that it can take weeks for my body to stop reacting to a change in medication and that even the smallest change can create a massive reaction in my legs physically jumping and feeling as if I’ve been electrocuted.
Things that help are the same as rls generally, baths in Epsom salts, massaging, gentle exercise, distraction - it could be that you have had a lot of different chemicals in your body over the past years and your body is particularly sensitive to these changes. Personally my body overreacts to everything - when I moved from oxycodone to the buprenorphine patch (5mcg) I had intense withdrawal ( kicking and flailing legs and arms) night and day for a week which was complete hell whilst other people on this forum have made that transition with no withdrawal.
I think your body needs to settle down for you to be able to tell if the carbemazapine is helping at all and that could take a few weeks. I think putting more drugs into the mix is unlikely to help you at the moment unless it’s one that you know worked for you in the past and you can now take consistently.
I really do wish you the best of luck and hope you find something to help calm down these symptoms soon. You are not alone we are all battling along trying to find some peace x
So the tegratol is not helping? I dont suppose you have ever tried Dipyridamole?
