What to do about my restless legs??

Someone help!!!! Cant cope with restless leg syndrome anymore, I need sleep. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and have suffered with rls for a long time and was taking tramadol for rls as well as depression/anxiety and it was working great. When I notified my doctor that I was pregnant he stopped prescribing it to me. My obgyn wont help and neither will my primary. I feel like I've tried everything. Sometimes I take up to 4 hot baths a day, stretch & massage my legs, avoid certain foods, go for walks, I take vitamins, tried tonic water, compression socks. You name it. I'm tired and i dont know what else to do and I'm going crazy.

You need to check your iron levels - ask for a full blood panel - and assure that your ferritin levels are above 100. Low iron levels are the primary cause of RLS in pregnancy - and in the rest of us. Remember, the baby is eating your iron. Nature does not care about you much, baby first.

Another cause, apparently, is above-average estradiol, but how you fix that I do not know. Possibly it could be balanced with progesterone? Ask your obstetrician.

Your doctors will not give you drugs, they cannot.

But you could start taking ferrous bisglycinate together with Vitamin C, on an empty stomach last thing at night, while you wait for an appointment.

Good advice from Parminter to have your iron levels checked. You can fairly safely take iron after you habe established they are not at the high end of the range. Nit you want them well above average. Ask for the exact numbers! ‘Normal’ won’t do. If you start supplying, get patches from patchMD as well, as iron levels increase only ever so slowly.

Also have you the magnesium levels assessed in your blood panel. Same thing, of not towards the high end, start suppleting, it benefits many.

Discuss with tour doctor only whether it will harm, they will mot often say it may help.

I hope you get restful legs soon! So that you may enjoy the pregnancy. And you could with with the rest; things will turn demanding and hectic soon. First one? Or experienced?

If you can afford it, a Relaxis Pad. It appears to work for many people, and if you plan another child you will want it stacked away somewhere.

My suggestions are Nighttime Leg Calm essential oil blend from Nature’s Inventory - 3 squirts rubbed on your low back. Can also rub on feet and legs. Also, Hyland’s makes a homeopathic tablet called Restful Legs. I put 3 tabs under my tongue and let them dissolve. Can repeat at 15 minute intervals if necessary. Also, massaging legs in a figure eight pattern is very soothing .

I have heard good things about the vibration of a pad under your legs. That would not effect the baby.

February 4, 2019 Lissikins: Try acupuncture or therapeutic yoga or even a professional massage or aromatherapy. I bake chocolate brownies, and the smell makes the pain go away. Congratulations on being pregnant.

February 4, 2019 Lissikins: On this site, I read about how a member drank 8 oz of celery juice and did not have RLS symptoms. I am now eating a bag of celery daily. I have been able to reduce my mirapex from 1.75 mg. to 1.25.
