Thank you all for your incredibly helpful replies.I am just wondering if my first port of call should actually be to ask my doctor if I can increase my 10mg of oxycontin to a higher dose & then if that does not work I could ask to be switched to buprenorphine.
Have any of you lovely people had success on a higher dose of oxycontin?

I wish I could respond positively. I was on 25mg Oxycontin over 24 hours and 150mg pregabalin at night. My RLS was still very severe.However, many do well on Oxycontin. Madlegs takes 25mg a day.
The average dose is 30mg a day.

As jools says ,I'm on 25 oxycodone which covers adequately, unless I take triggers, when I get to be in real bother.
I think I will see if Doc will up my 10mg before I think about changing opioids.I wonder what your triggers are.
I expect you will say alcohol but I do enjoy a glass of wine a few nights a week.
At age 73 I feel it is my treat.
Your choice.
But alcohol is a major trigger.
I'm reckoning it's the sulphites.
Other triggers for me are raising agents - most biscuits, crunchy bars etc.
Artificial sweetener, colours and so on.
No reasonable amount of oxycodone will protect against those.
Again --- you choose.

I am not a biscuit cake person.
I inherited rls from my father.
When I broke my foot & was in plaster for 6 weeks my rls vanished (although I still had a glass of wine).
When I was in bed with covid for 6 weeks my rls also vanished & obviously I did not feel like wine.
So six weeks with & six weeks without & the same result.
If your symptoms get bad enough, are you thinking of plastering up your foot again? Only half joking!
Plastered foot or covid - now there's a choice!! It's actually good to be able to laugh about this because if you didn't well, doesn't bear thinking about!Actually, I had a foot operation 18 months or so ago and also had few rls symptoms however I did take codeine for a while
You did make me laugh!!I reckon when you have something like a broken foot your body puts all its energy to healing it & naturally (& very kindly) gives you relief from rls.
