Hi, everyone, I need your help. I am presently taking a supplement, Neuro Regen Botanical Extract for my severe pain on my newly operated abdomen ( I had laparotomy on March 29 of this year) The Neuro Regen has the benefits of repairing the damaged nerve. Neuro Regen contains Mucuna Pruriens extract (98% of L-dopa). My question for you is whether the Mucuna Pruriens Extract (98% L-dopa) would cause augmentation like any dopaminergic drugs or not.
I do appreciate to anyone who has either the knowledge or experiences on this supplement. Thanks.

I think the first thing that I would say is that 2 months after a laparotomy I don’t think you should still be in severe pain. Instead of self medicating perhaps you should seek medical review for it?
Re the supplement, I think it’s possible to augment on it but I’m sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon !
Hi Sue, your are always replying to our questions, I do appreciate it. I think Lapsedrunner is right recommending to seek medical opinion for the persistent pain. I do have an appointment to see the surgeon on June 5. Thanks for your prompt reply.
All I can tell you is that I asked my RLS knowledgeable neurologist what she thought about my taking Mucuna Puriens. She was adamant that I stay away from it. She said it would act just as a dopamine agonist and added that just because something is natural it doesn’t mean it won’t cause the same problems as a synthetic drug.
Birdland, thank you so much for your prompt reply, I have stoped taking it because I know how scary it is to have augmentation, Knowing it from our members to see how much suffering they have endure. It is a gruesome torture!!
Yes, augmentation is horrible! I augmented terribly on Ropinirole. Getting off of it was pure hell. Since I was taking such a high dose, it took me 3 years to completely come off of it!
