I'm currently going trough the pramipexole taper ( down 60%) and its getting harder and harder but still bearable. I'm just wondering if everyone who tapered from DA and got DAWS suffered from a prolonged depression at the end? and how long did it last for you?
thanks

Yes it happened to me. I've never experienced depression before. One gp likened it to PTSD. I've had counselling and good family support and I am much better. I Augmented in March 2021.
Depression is a known side effect of reducing pramipexole although not everyone experiences it. Ask your doctor for trazodone or wellbutrin for depression. Both are safe for RLS.
I was taking 3 Pramiprexole a day plus one slow release. My gp instructed me to stop all medication immediately. I had a horrendous time and became anxious and depressed. I went for days without sleep. I'm now on Buprenorphine sub-lingual . I am sleeping better and feeling less depressed . I had counselling and never had antidepressants . I feel quite different since Augmenting to how I was before all this. I'd been on Mirapexin from 2004 to 2021. I'm unsure if the Buprenorphine I take now is causing some of the problems with mood etc but it is the most effective med for me currently . I take 25mg Pregabalin to offset the symptoms caused by Buprenorphine.
Yes, very bad depression coming off prami, even dark thoughts. We're gonna after a month and now happy with 150 mg Pregabalin. Things will get better eventually!
Rls is most often cause by inflmmation of the nerves and as your brain is a big bunch of nerves it's not unlikely that the nerves causing RLS are inflammed as much as the nerves in your brain which can caue depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and all sorts of mental broblems (check out Dr Chris Palmer on Youtube). You can reduce this inflammation by avoiding processed food (i.e. higly refined carbas and refined seed oils).
