Pramipexole to Buprenophine

Friends,

Has anyone experience of going from Pramipexole directly to Buprenophine? If so:

Did you have to be completely finished with the Pramipexole before commencing the Buprenophine?

I'm scheduled see a doctor soon but I'm worried I will have no meds to help me if i have to stop the DA completely before I commence an opiod.

Thanks..

You can start the Buprenophine while still on the pramipexole.

Have you found an MD in Florida who will prescribe Buprenorphine? I’m on the East Coast of Florida. My current neurologist won’t consider it.

I am from Georgia. I actually went to pain management doctor and had no problem. My neurologist didn't help.

I was prescribed buprenorphine, but I was unfortunately allergic to it. I have been taking pramipexole for years and I have been augmenting.

Buprenorphine can work great for rls. Start with a very low dose, it may be all you need.. I hope the best for you also.

Hi BeachGolfer,

I'm SE Florida but I'm having to travel to Sarasota for my approintment. I emailed the MD a very brief synopsis of my RLS journey and past medical history and to find out if they:

Follow the updated Mayo Clinic Algorithm

Would consider prescribing opiods, if required.

I got a call back to say that he does follow the Algorithm and has previously prescribed opiods for RLS sufferers in the past (i dont kniw if he has prescribed Buprenorphine, though).

I have an appointment at the end of October. As soon as know whats happening I shall post on here how it went.

Does your current neurologist prescribe other opiods? What RLS meds are you currently on and have you tried opoods already?

I’m on Oxycodone. Mirapex in the past. I’m in Dr. Winkleman’s study out of Massachusetts General for persons on opioids. My new neurologist “sleep specialist “ here continued the Oxycodone seemingly only because I was already on it and he knows Winkleman. He will not prescribe Buprenorphine which I’d be interested in trying. I also see neurologist in a different state who also prescribes the Oxycodone. I wish you well. I’m also a retired RN.

Thank you for the good wishes.

I'm so sorry to read you can't get Buprenorphine. I shall, of course, report back here asap with my finding.

Good luck.
