Update after Pramipexole

Just to summarise my story as I have been in touch before. Was on 6 x .008 prami and increasing if my GP had her way. Thanks to this forum I gradually(since May) reduced prami to 2 a night with the help of tramadol. After my hols 4 weeks ago I decided to go cold turkey and quit prami. I had a script for pregabalin. I took 2 tramadol(50mg each) at 5oclock and 1 pregabalin(50mg) at 9oc. Praised be to the Lord its working like a dream. Side affects slight fatigue if I sit during day but I'm fairly active so it's manageable. In time hoping to test reducing tramadol or pregabalin or both. For now not going to rock the boat. Maybe I'm one of the lucky people. Hope this might be of some help to somebody. Thanks to all for sharing and helping.Eithne

That’s brilliant. Thank you for posting, it’s really good to hear about when it goes well and gives hope to others. That’s a fairly low dose of pregabalin as well which is also great.

thanks for this. I am down to just under 2 pramipexole. Need to make a move now and be brave like you were :)

Good luck with it! I find tramadol fantastic in controlling rls. I know I'm not going to go mad(at this hr of my life!!) and I will give anything a go initially. In fact I might try taking 2 more tramadol at 9 instead of pregabalin soon n see how that goes. Prefer to be on just one med if possible. I will post it when I do. Good luck.

Good for you! I'm curious, as my pharmacy is very strict about dispensing my Tramadol prescription to the exact day that I would run out. I was only allowed to take 50mg per night. How are you able to experiment with doubling up your dose of Tramadol? Thx

that’s such good news and a very low dose of pregabalin. Interesting that you take tramadol so early in the evening but if that works for you that’s great

yes. I have been using both pramiprexole low dose 1/2 of .25 and 1 50 mg tab Tramadol at nite with excellent results. I have run the gamet, neurologists, movement disorder clinic at the Mayo, iron infusions, back injections with little relief except for the pram and Tramadol.

Drs don’t argue with me and r happy I have found something that works after 45 years.

no issue with the Tramadol rx at all

Lol, I actually don't even know what it means. Some Irish players online keep saying it when they're about to win.

It means up the IRA aka supporting the terrorists who bombed and murdered innocent men, women and children in NI and Britain.

It's a very inflammatory statement and probably best only used by those with an understanding of its cultural and historical significance.

Hi, I am an 81 year old woman who suffers slight RLS which has been kept under control with Pramipexole over about 10 years now and I am up to 5 a day. I would be very interested to hear how you reduced from 6 per day by use Tramadol. Did you reduce by one tablet per day, i.e. cutting down to 5 a day plus a Tramadol then 4, etc. etc. If so how long did you stay on 5 before moving down to 4. Many thanks for any help you can give. Irene🙂

Firstly why are getting off Prami? Have u augmentation? Or have u been upping prami over the years to 5 a day? Thanks to Joolgs n Sue I will tell u how I reduced. I asked my pharmacist to half my Prami(R) tabs...088. Since May last I reduced my intake by half a tab every 2/3 weeks over the Summer by taking 1 tramadol(50mg) around 5/6oc each eve. Took the Prami around 9oc. It was a tedious task but had to be done. When I got down to 2 x(.088) after a hol I had enough of weaning off n went cold turkey. It was exactly 4 weeks ago. I took 2 tramadol(50mg) around 5/6oc and 1 pregabalin(50mg) at 9oc. Touch wood alls going well. Thrilled to be off Prami. Will keep this up for the mo but in time maybe reduce tramadol n up pregabalin. Will hope for advice from Joolgs n Sue. Good luck.

Many thanks indeed for your very helpful reply. I haven't augmented yet but am thinking ahead of it possibly happening. As you suggest, I will check with my Doctor before making any changes. Best regards.
