Of course you can!!!

But you will suffer.

Even some non alcoholic drinks are not free from guilt. I think there must be some other issues as well as just the alcohol. Colourings and sulphate are two guilty looking critters in the corner.

I know I can drink Erdinger alcoholfrei ok (beer) but have had horrendous nights from some other makes.

Some interesting times ahead for you!!🤪😎

Oh dear. Maybe I should keep my wine drinking for special treats and just suffer the consequences!!

Too much stimulation in the evening - whether that be alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, too much sugar, too big a meal/ too late - can be counter- productive. But then some swear that they benefit from caffeine, and others - including me - find that moderate use of alcohol (e.g a single glass) has no impact on RLS. A sugary pudding is much more likely to set off *my* RLS!

It's an individual thing which you can test yourself. Total abstinence may not be necessary.

Thanks. I’m on pregabalin and they share the same warnings - as I share your longing for a drink/treat, especially with Sunday lunch. (I’m 82). They both say “avoid or limit” unless you look at the rehab sites which are much more frightening! I get dizzy, sleepy and confused even without booze so I think I might dare to experiment. Maybe we should compare notes if we survive. Of course it’s stopping at one glass that’s difficult…

Cheers

Well my Godmother lived to 101 on a LARGE glass of red wine every day.She did not have RLS but she was on meds for blood pressure & scoliosis of the spine.

So cheers to us all!

interesting. As I told Sue, my prob is spinal stenosis, so I wonder if your godmother’s meds were similar. It seems to be a comparison of twisting and crushing. But I’m sorry to intrude on the RLS group. It’s not my problem and mine isn’t yours, but good luck with it and with the tipple.

How much pregabalin are you on and does it control your RLS?

Hi Sue,

75mg x2. Per d. I think this is a small dose. I’ve only been on it 10 days or so and they say it can take weeks to work. I haven’t got RLS but the spine groups don’t include my stenosis problem so they seem to have put me here. It’s still a nerve prob so the meds are similar.

Depends on whether alcohol is a trigger for you. Everyone is different. I have no food or drink triggers. Alcohol doesn't make my RLS worse. And caffeine in coffee actually improves it.So keep a diary and see what works.

The oldest woman in the world just died at 118! She had a glass of wine every day! I would suggest to drink it prior to the evening meal.

That sounds a good plan.My 101 Godmother always had her gin & tonic prior to lunch!
