I have had RLS for years. It started getting irritating in my 40's and continued to get worst. I am now 85 and on Methadone, trying to withdraw from it because it is hard to get in Las Vegas. I am down to .5mg at night. I gave up my noon pill because of constipation..
I was getting very little sleep because my legs keep me up at night. I decided when I felt better before going to bed I would not take the pill and my wife gave me Tamazapan which is a sleeping pill. For the first time I actually got a good night sleep and my legs did not wake me up. She did it again the next night and again I got a goodnight sleep. If my legs start irritating me during the day I take 2 xtra strength 500 mg Tylenol and that seems to work. I also got a foot bath massager and that seems to help too, I put hot water and soak for about 20 min and that helps too. Been 2 days without Methadone and am going to try for the 3rd night.

You are lucky. Any sleeping tablet makes my RLS far worse.
I was wondering about Tylenol - because it is a pain med and pain meds generally have some impact. However, I'm hesitate to use routinely because of potential for organ damage. However, as I get older, these concerns become less and less. Whatever works for my remaining years I will try.
Dear Mr McC, I have it too but my GP has prescribed medication that works for me. It's called Pramipexole. I take 2 before 7 pm. I hope this is helpful for you sir.Kind regards,
